Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Surely the lads are pissed off with Charlie .. I don’t know him obviously but just seems too far gone to return
Checked out a long time ago
I just want him and his half arsed efforts gone….
And to Sydney … I could handle that but I couldn’t handle him going to those F wits with the hoops

Clean slate, new recruits, new attitudes and new ruthlessness amongst the whole playing group with a common goal

Interesting to note the difference between Geelong & Sydney.

Swans have a genuine interest in getting CC and are working on a serious picks + players deal (by all reports).

Cats only genuine interest is in destabilizing CC and hoping he puts enough pressure on to force a completely one-sided deal. It has been their strategy under Mackie.

2 picks in the 20s and one in the 30s for Curnow is beyond insulting. Almost as bad as what they gave the dogs for Smith last year - which was embarrassing.

Clubs and managers have got to start informing their players that if they're thinking of moving clubs just don't consider Geelong as the deal just won't get done.

The idea that they could go after Curnow without giving up any players is beyond me. They should have just said to CC straight away - we'd like to have you but it's not for us as we don't like you enough to trade out ANY player on our list.

You know what I love? What I ****ing love?

The fact that we're losing the likes of TDK, Jack and a generational forward in Charlie and still have our heads held high and are genuinely proud of the way our club is going about this.

A lot of clubs would sink in moments like this, hell, Carlton from even last year probably would have, but here we are, UNITED as a TEAM. All of us.

Bloody proud of this club, now just finish the deal with Charlie and let's look forward to what I genuinely believe could be one of the more exciting years we will have had.

Jagga & Newman as basically new recruits, another preseason into Lord and the like, a bunch of young, hungry players chomping at the bit for a fair go at it. I'm so ****ing ready.
Same, then reality hits by about rd 3-4.

I'm vey happy with todays pickups - both improve the list and that si what should happen every year.

As for Curnow I reckon the Club is quote honest about the situation - pay up of GAGF and dont talk to us about untouchable players.

Wright is cleaning shop really fast - more to come before trade period is over.

His contract in front end loaded. He has an history of injuries. He wants to maximise his value while he can.

What have we done to be on the nose with Charlie? We looked after him and invested heavily in him to get his career resurrected after injury and further set backs associated with him not being professional. We then paid him top dollar and gave him security of a long term deal despite his injury history.

I do not believe that for a second.
We also gave his brother and extra year to appease him.

I think temper expectations...

An offer that would "blow Carlton away" is something like Gulden + F1.

Obviously won't happen...

They will approach with a reasonable offer and if we can use what we get from them to make more moves to improve our draft hand this year and next, as well as add a reliable player, we'll probably do it.

Not even close to Pagan era. We had hardly any decent players then

We have top end talent and a heap of really good youth coming through. We will add highly rated youth in Walker Jagga Dean Ison to our side. We have a lot of kids now. We could add another top 4-5 pick. We lack depth in that middle age group. Look at our reserves. It’s where we struggle

I 100% support what we are doing.
So do I but we are only doing the recruiting basics that have been neglected for 15 years. It is yet to be seen if we can pull off recruiting coups that deliver premierships

Well said SG, exactly how I feel. Genuinely pumped with how things are finally starting to turn.

How would Ainsworth and Hayward look in the same side? Are they bringing different attributes? Are they stepping on each other's toes?

Ainsworth more traditional small.

Hayward a marking medium.

Given how spot on the money CD was with his summation of the Cats' offer, I have faith that - if Charlie goes - we'll be happy.
Agree with your sentiment Matty.

Still annoys me that a dh like Curnow was happy to sign a six year extension two years ago, and now wants out.

Why didn’t he just sign a two year extension that would have taken him to the FA stage, he would have had clubs queuing up for his services - imagine what the Saints would have offered him!

It's good that he did sign to when he did as we'd get better value through a trade than RFA, particularly also because he still has 4 years to go.

I'm preparing to be disappointed in this Sydney offer.

The only deal that would blow me away would be Gulden+Stengle+F1 with Geelong and Sydney time sharing Curnow depending on where he wants to surf that weekend.
