Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Im ready to get blown by the Swans
l tend to believe this is more media hype that what will happen in reality.
If they included one of their top 4 players Gulden or a Heeney then that fit that definition which is not going to happen.
As most have mentioned likely to be this year's 1st pick & F1st and Hayward, a good offer but not going to be blown away by that.

Interesting to note the difference between Geelong & Sydney.

Swans have a genuine interest in getting CC and are working on a serious picks + players deal (by all reports).

Cats only genuine interest is in destabilizing CC and hoping he puts enough pressure on to force a completely one-sided deal. It has been their strategy under Mackie.

2 picks in the 20s and one in the 30s for Curnow is beyond insulting. Almost as bad as what they gave the dogs for Smith last year - which was embarrassing.

Clubs and managers have got to start informing their players that if they're thinking of moving clubs just don't consider Geelong as the deal just won't get done.

The idea that they could go after Curnow without giving up any players is beyond me. They should have just said to CC straight away - we'd like to have you but it's not for us as we don't like you enough to trade out ANY player on our list.
this.

His contract in front end loaded. He has an history of injuries. He wants to maximise his value while he can.

What have we done to be on the nose with Charlie? We looked after him and invested heavily in him to get his career resurrected after injury and further set backs associated with him not being professional. We then paid him top dollar and gave him security of a long term deal despite his injury history.

I do not believe that for a second.
Looks like all opinion there to me.

Any known facts to back this up?

The article on Elijah in Age today is interesting. Not really consistent with us telling him to explore his options though.
It's an obvious PR piece to alleviate fears for any curious clubs hesitant to take a cheap punt on him.

Based on names that have been floated and thinking of what proposal might blow my socks off - perhaps…

Swans trade 2025 1st round, 2026 1st and 2nd round picks+ Haywood, rowbottom and datolli for curnow + 54 (blues) +2026 3rd (eagles) + 2027 3rd (blues)

Eagles trade picks 2 +34 +38 and 2026 3rd round for rowbottom + 10 (blues)+11 (eagles) + 2026 2nd (swans)

Blues trade curnow + 10 + 54 + 2027 3rd for Haywood + datoli + pick 2 (eagles) +34 (eagles) +38 (eagles) + 2026 1st (swans)

Haywood + datolli for mature players
2 - pick before Dean bid
22 + 34 + 38 should be enough for Dean + ISON
2026 1st from swans to support Cody f/s match

I read that article and think Elijah is staying. I think that's Carlton acknowledging no one wants him and we'll keep him bit wanting to manage the optics

Depends who drove the article.

If it was Carlton, he is staying and they’re managing the optics after telling him to explore his options.

If it was Elijah and his management, he needs to find a club and this is a call to show he is on the mend.

He is too good a talent to delist or trade for pick stuff all, but obviously he has burnt a lot of bridges and that article isn’t telling the full story. If he’s going to get it right surely his best chance is at Carlton with his brother. Please retain him if it’s even remotely possible.

Sure. But if it’s straight nonsense, clubs will find out and it will be worse for him.
Both can be true, he's addressing his problems, as per article, but he's also burnt his bridges at our club.

There’s about a 5% chance he stays - and that’s only if the Ghost of Christmas pays GW a visit in his sleep.

Okay I’ve had a re-think.

I think our deal will be: Pick 11, F1 (2026), Hayward and Rowbottom.

Then with all of the spare cash we have, we go hard at McInerny as Free Agent next year.

Sorry Chris, but Rowbottom would be a square peg in a round hole for Carlton.
Passing on him and Florent thanks mate 👍
