Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Obviously Carlton have said no to Florent hence Sydney telling him to explore is options
Looks like they'll be over paying to get Charlie we honestly can't lose
This is the other thing I was wondering. It wasn't clear from Cal's tweet/article whether Florent would be included in the deal or whether Swans just want him to explore his options generally.

Sydney WANT Florent to go. Long contract for a guy the new coach isn't playing.

Can’t be a major part of any deal for Charlie for that reason. They’re tight for list spots and don’t really want to hold him.

Hayward, Rowbottom, McDonald, Dattoli, Campbell are the potentially gettable names that we should be dragging into it.

Along with 2 FRP.

Fair enough if people want to knock Florent. I certainly have questions about the salary he would be on.

But I think we need to look at the bigger picture of his acquisition. He's another addition among a few that improves our outside run/ball users group that has been the achilles heel of our team during Voss' tenure. We need to keep adding in this area through trade and draft to become a better functioning team. Ainsworth, Chesser, and Florent is a pretty good start in this regard.

I would assume they're hoping a team like North or WCE would offer overs for him that they could include in the trade to us. Doubt the Blues would see him as much of a piece in the trade so shopping him is a better option than adding him as steak knives to a deal for Charlie.

Still think thats what ends up happening though.

Made the terrible mistake of glancing at the Geelong subreddit, where they vehemently oppose a straight swap of Miers for Curnow. Apparently that is a bad deal for them!

Yeah apparently Curnow is past his best and injury prone. That’s why they’ve courted him for years and are willing to wipe their whole draft hand for him despite having Cameron and Neale!

It's just odd they've left it this late if they do want him to look elsewhere

Luckily for us with Curnow, TDK, JSOS, Doch and Gov departing salary space will be in abundance at least for the next couple of years for us. Front load it and let him play for an average wage for the remaining years.

Yes but it'll get tighter once we get Butters, Humphrey, and Reid.

I really hope Lij stays - and not just because his skill set is exactly what we need. Made some mistakes but few don’t at 23 - we want them to be consummate professionals and forget what babies they are. Most people that age are not Sam Walsh - I certainly wasn’t and now I’m a senior exec at an asx 50 company. He’ll come good with proper leadership and mentoring and I’d like to think a professional football club could figure that out and make it happen.
If this club is to get better it has to stop giving chop outs to guys based on their talent or if they fill a need for us, and if it has to start with Elijah then so be it.

He’s not the only one this applies to.

I get the support piece, but there’s a minimum standards piece here as well and personal responsibility is a part of that.

A few have raised us getting pick 2 from WC in a trade for Charlie, which got me wondering, what would tempt GC to part with Humphrey?

Every trade has been about them getting points for academy players and picks for Petracca, but would a pick to get ahead of all their academy players tempt them?

This year Geelong supporters have shown one thing since the allegations against them and what they won’t trade for Charlie Curnow, and that is that they are right up there amongst the dumbest supporter base in the competition.

Absolutely fair - and I agree with
personal responsibility, so long as we’ve done our part and he has not done his. Given the capability of our club’s culture I suspect not

Hmmm

He has a lot to work though- it’s not just a case of a few poor decisions

The only way I’d be willing to accept him staying is if he was in the VFL squad. He needs to regain trust
You can’t change the past and the decisions made when not clear of mind..

Man up CFC, give the guy a chance to see out his contract and support him through to the end..

We'll finally be rid of Williams' ridiculous contract too end of 2026...

Believe we’ve been looking but it was to be a separate deal if to eventuate.

You’d want this to be down the salary dump path and hopefully some wearing of $$’s.

Thank christ for that

Best thing about having Wright and Davies is that they won’t give Williams a 2 year minimum money deal like the club did with Gov. Williams will be gone in 12 months in a clean break.
