Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I really hope Lij stays - and not just because his skill set is exactly what we need. Made some mistakes but few don’t at 23 - we want them to be consummate professionals and forget what babies they are. Most people that age are not Sam Walsh - I certainly wasn’t and now I’m a senior exec at an asx 50 company. He’ll come good with proper leadership and mentoring and I’d like to think a professional football club could figure that out and make it happen.
Agree, life lessons and all that.
If he fails to grasp the opportunity his contract finishes and it doesn’t get renewed until then work with him.

Best thing about having Wright and Davies is that they won’t give Williams a 2 year minimum money deal like the club did with Gov. Williams will be gone in 12 months in a clean break.
Don’t agree. Zac had a good season last year. Especially when he has bursts in the midfield. We beat the Dogs if he doesn’t get injured. If he stays mostly injury-free next year, I’d offer a short-term deal on reduced money for sure.

The question is not for CFC to man up

That question is for Lij
2-way street, yes but without support from the top to see his contract through then there’s nothing he can do.

He’s trying isn’t he..? Back at training. Off the drink. Settling off-field?

Let him know that’s it’s up until the MSD and if the agreed terms aren’t met, it’s catch ya later.

Maybe for a couple of years but if he has genuinely changed after that and is a great player he has redeemed himself and gets a longer deal - hypothetically speaking of course 😉
Can never be trusted again, a long contract could bring in complacency and give him a licence to **** up again. Not going to give him the protection of a contract and the opportunity to do that. Take the one year contract for the rest of your career or be traded.

Problem with that is if he turns it around and is flying, someone else will come in, offer him the world and after helping him through his dramas we'll be left with nothing
Great, then we finally get something and get something potentially good for him as opposed to getting nothing for him this year.

If this club is to get better it has to stop giving chop outs to guys based on their talent or if they fill a need for us, and if it has to start with Elijah then so be it.

He’s not the only one this applies to.

I get the support piece, but there’s a minimum standards piece here as well and personal responsibility is a part of that.
Get your point and if it was upsetting the player group to have him around I could understand, but it seems (and I have no idea) that Walsh and quite a few others want him to stay!

Not really.
In 2018 he signed a four year contract on very good money for the high potential he displayed since his debut season in 2016. He got injured midway through 2019 and basically didn’t play for 2 years.
One of the setbacks was due to injury he sustained playing basketball when he should have been rehabbing, which id imagine would not have been part of the the rehabilitation program the club set and paid for him to overcome his injury.
We also sent and paid for him to see various medical specialists in Australia and overseas during his rehabilitation.
His first full year back was 2022 and he was excellent but we immediately offered him a 6 year deal on very good money.
Fact. Not opinion…in my opinion.
Don't forget redrafting Ed, with the pick before that Richmond lad that tore us a new one Round 1 this year, just to get him to sign.

We are looking to fill 22-28 year age gap. Both these fill that and are best 23 players. I reckon Rowbottom is massively underrated
I agree but unless the Swans offer Heeney or Gulden this board aint gunna be happy. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Pretty harsh stance.
Trust is hard to win and easily broken but if someone proves they have changed over a significant period of time they should be celebrated and admired in life not just footy.

Whatever the club ultimately do I will back them in as I expect they will know the situation best

If he is let go then I will not be at all surprised and ultimately it will be for the better of the club
