Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Their picks are crap and miers doesn’t change that and Charlie doesn’t deserve to get his way
I don’t want to trade Charlie, but if we do I couldn’t give a **** where he goes I want the best deal possible that makes our football club better.

If Miers is involved that’s already better than any deal that’s being discussed. Rejecting a better deal to not get what Charlie wants is not the best for our football club which is the most important thing.

So what actions did he actually do to suffer these consequences?

I saw some Richmond bloke beat the crap out of some bloke outside of a pub and the club stood by him. Stengle rushed to hospital after a 3am nightclub 'incident', and the club supporting him as an "error in judgement." How did Degoey go over in Bali last time he visited there?

All I see is photos showing Lij undertaking pre-season training with our future captain Walsh along with other players around Princes Park. Does that demonstrate lost trust with the players, or a club with a piss poor culture that the coach has to come out and admit at a Best and Fairest presentation?

So let's just cut him. We did it with Fev, we did it with Mitch, we did it with Jeffy, and where did that get us? Maybe we're looking in the wrong direction.
I’m not going to discuss on a public forum. But does poor culture allow something unacceptable to happen repeatedly without significant consequences solely because the player has talent?

If this was Fogarty would you have the same kind of reaction?

So you're not going to discuss on a public forum, but just did.....

Anyway, I've given my views on the matter and will leave it at that.

He didn't give any details as to what the issue is though.

Perfect world we want to trade up to Pick 3-4 then have points for Dean & Ison. We don’t want a heap more youth.
Anyone with logic sees we traded up to beat the bid on Dean, rack up points for Ison and Walker next year. Curnows trade does all that plus brings in a player we need and frees up cap space. The only thing im sad for is if Cripps, Weitering and McKay dont get to be a part of our next premiership. They all deserve one. We have to move on from the first "rebuild" and onto the second "rebuild". Hopefully thpse leaders are around to see glory.

after a few 196 cans last night. This is my squad of 25 for round 1 if everything can line up with the Curnow trade. IMG_0080.jpeg

Next off season we add Walker Butters and Bailey. Probably need to pay out or trade 2 of Binns acres McGovern and fog this year

I’d hope we have plans for picks 10 & 11
  • Form part of an attempt at Butters
  • Offer for Humphrey
  • Offer for Walter & Pick 15
  • Offer for Pick 2
  • Try for a top 10 2026 First
  • A top tier player comes out of the woodwork
This is my thought and hope as well.
We need to be urgent.
Keeping one eye on picks we need to keep for walker ect, but if there’s a chance we can bring in a Humphrey/butters or any gun player that suits our needs, then I’m hitting that button now! This trade period.

Yep. Coming away from this year with Ainsworth/Chesser/Reidy/Dean/Ison is already a nice injection of talent.

Trading Charlie Curnow gives us the opportunity of bringing in some more. Humphrey or Walter would be great, but there are different combinations of players and picks that is also intriguing. We could literally come away with 7-10 Best 22 players this year.

Cody Walker will be ours in 12 months and if we end up with a F1 this year as well, then we might be able to draft Cody and someone else in next years draft which is set to be a great one.

  • Agree Rowy isn't the type we should be going for. He's a tackle machine though. He will 100% keep Lord out of the side.
  • Who are the number of good players we can roll through there? None of them are as good as Hayward currently.
  • TDK was useless up forward
  • We also have HOK who we can play there

One more thing to note, of course losing Charlie in the forward line is going to be a bad result for us. But a more dynamic forward line could really work in our favour.

Ainsworth Kemp Hayward
Williams Harry Moir

I wouldn't mind that setup at all tbh...

We become way less predictable without Charlie there. Good for us given opposition defences knew exactly where the footy was going with Charlie there.

Agree. Player power is out of control now.

They have free agency to do what they want. Clubs give overs in these long term deals to try to keep them. Then they request trades anyway.

Clubs need to start adding into these long term deals the ability to trade them out to wherever they like.

Put a bit more power back into the clubs hands.

Want to take a 6 year deal then take the piss after 2 years. Bye bye, we're sending you to West Coast
Not possible in an Australian context.

If Charlie goes and we are choosing players, I’d love us to go the mosquito fleet option and support Harry with HOK and other developing talls.

Give me players like Miers, Close, Wizard, Brent Daniel’s, Kozi, Dylan More, Rachele.

Before anyone says stuff like, how would we get Kozi, I mean these types of players

It really doesn’t matter if Charlie stays or wherever he goes so long as we get the best deal for the CFC.
Would be keen to know what metrics the club will use to determine our “reserve price.”
Is he worth 60 goals a season? Do we need to therefore be a better team with the inclusions either contributing or saving a net of 60 goals next season? Or are we thinking more 28/29/30 and willing to suffer some short term pain for #17?
The club won’t come out and say it but their actions will be very loud as to the direction the club is taking.

I was told (two seperate sources) last night that Humphrey remains some chance of heading this way.

Simple arithmetic is they can’t trade for Petracca and have enough points for their two top ten (maybe five) academy picks and at least three other good options. Something has to give.

Uwland, Patterson, Addinsall, Coulson, Murray odds on to be taken, add Hudson, Collin’s, Nancarrow, Harris, Turner and Melb F/S Kalani White as possibilities.
