Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Not sure I would claim a chance as a BLUEMOUR, close though. (I get annoyed with some tenuous offerings)

The Moe rumblings surely put us in the mix for BH. Melbourne will be pushing for him in the Trac trade, but I would like to think Humphrey is smart enough to avoid them.
I think we can definitely facilitate a trade and offer a really enticing deal to make gc think real hard about pulling the trigger on Humphrey this trade period.
Couple of factors for me:
If hawks can land Merrett? If not, they could be a late threat.
Would Humphrey entertain coming to us? Or does Gold Coast tell him he’s going to Carlton because where the team that can offer the best deal?
Doe’s Humphrey even care where he ends up because he just wants to be home?

Also, does landing Ainsworth help in any way to get Humphrey over the line?

I was initially disappointed when i heard Charlie wanted out, but now I reckon its the best thing, good timing of course depends on what the trade involves, but its a perfect opportunity for a mini reset, hope it happens

Let’s hope Carlton & Elijah can get their shit together.

From the outside, it feels to me that for far too long, Carlton has lacked great officials with acumen with a sixth sense. Seems to be run by departmental intellectuals. They might know what to say but not know what to do. Both off field & on field. Let’s hope GW & Davis is one positive step forward.

There would be no better place for Elijah next year than Carlton & with his brother. Both Carlton & Elijah must get better going forward.
If cats can keep Stengle, Smith and Bruhn in one year we can back ourselves with E Hollands

Could this be a potential trade:

Swans:
Give: This year first round, F1 and Hayward
In: Curnow

Carlton:
Give: Curnow
In Humphrey, Hayward, F1 (help with Cody)

GC:
Give Humphrey
In: this year first (swans)

GC can then use that first for academy or Petracca trade.

Carlton get F1 to help with Cody

Swans get Charlie and lose two first and a player which seems to be the going narrative

I've just woken up in Geelong this morning unharmed after a family birthday party. The die hard Cats natives that I spoke to do not want Charlie at all.
They see him as many of us do.... immature, a bit lazy with little if any defensive accountability. They think their forward set up is fine for now. They think that Marshall is the biggest need and better value.
I don't disagree!
Pony up Swans!

Sounding more and more that they would be looking to trade Rowbottom for something rather than including him in our deal. This makes more sense for us as imo we don't need a Rowbotton type even though I do rate him as a player.

Suns getting bent over there, they will want more than a mid first rounder

The only thing with Humphrey is it was reported he's met with three clubs and none of them Carlton. Unless we've been able to keep it private and other team's haven't ofc but seems unlikely as it's probably Bailey's manager leaking the meetings
Have heard we have. Not sure where we stand though.

I initially thought landing Ainsworth would shut the door on Humphrey, because if GCS were serious about Curnow they could have packaged both up and done a good deal.

Still think this to a certain extent.

Not sure how serious GC are at retaining Humphrey, but if Hawks get Merrett, then I do think Ainsworth gives us a but more cred, though a new coach in Steven King and a fresh list may seem like a more like a Path to a flag than a team with a coach under heavy criticism and no Silverware in 30 years.

No. Suns would rightly ask for a lot more for Humphrey.

Initial reports said Carlton had been inquiring about him regardless of a Curnow trade so I'd assume we'd have had a word to him or his manager already.

Imo, you would think:
If pies are landing either or Simpkin/beuller/rowbottom, then there out of the picture for Humphrey.
If hawks land Merrett, then there out of the picture(u would think).
Really only leaves us and Melbourne.

I think every Carlton aligned individual would like to see Elijah retained. He is a prodigious talent. The officials have a responsibility which finally is being taken as seriously as it should be. If that sense of responsibility compels them to cut EH the so be it, and I will support their decision
We knew EH had a drug possession offence when he was recruited and was a risk, then at the end of 2024 we gave him a two year contract to end of 2026.

Does anyone know what he’s actually done to cut him from the team?

If Rowbottom went to Melbourne as partial offset to Trac/Clarry that might help us

Anyone with logic sees we traded up to beat the bid on Dean, rack up points for Ison and Walker next year. Curnows trade does all that plus brings in a player we need and frees up cap space. The only thing im sad for is if Cripps, Weitering and McKay dont get to be a part of our next premiership. They all deserve one. We have to move on from the first "rebuild" and onto the second "rebuild". Hopefully thpse leaders are around to see glory.
Harry’s not fussed though…

2 points that I have noticed in this thread the last week that I find fascinating.

1. The love for Lord. It seems he is in most people's best 23. With an influx of new talent, Jagga coming back, are you sure he fits in so easily? There may be a path to his spot in the 23, but I think a lot of people will be disappointed come round 1. He showed some promise this year, but I think it's a case of what you want to happen rather than the practical side of team balance.

Mind you, there shouldn't be a free pass to any new recruit, but we know that generally when you trade for new players, they play regardless of their pre-season.

2. The thought that Khamis is a lock at CHB. Do we even know if he is playing as a defender? Be careful to give the keys to a guy with little experience and who is severely undersized. CHB will either be Young or maybe a mature aged player we pick as a rookie or late in the draft (if we go that path). Personally, I assumed Khamis would either play forward or be more of a medium defender (Haynes type).

Any Khamis fans out there that can put together a case for him to be our next CHB?
