When they realise there's no merit in itWonder at what point the hawks abandon the merret chase.
They aren’t. Powell could be better than every mid not named Daicos at our club in 2026 and that future 1st will likely be top 6.
Can't agree with that - yes, injuries have hampered him throughout his career, but when he is playing injury-free, he is an absolute top tier player in the comp. How many matches has he won in the last few years?
Some of you remember the moments of glory but the reality is he has been only an above-average and very inconsistent mid over his career, and well below average the last two years.
Should have traded him last year but there's still time.

I tend to agree. But I don’t think (although I’d like) that they would give such a huge price for Jordy. I don’t know about Powell but their first round next year will likely be a top 5 pickNo, I don't think they would, the question was why would they, I reckon they would play JDG forward not midfield.
Still think about that 23 PF effort he gave, monstrous final. I still think he’s worth more to us than accepting cents on the dollar for his potential top level playCan't agree with that - yes, injuries have hampered him throughout his career, but when he is playing injury-free, he is an absolute top tier player in the comp.
But yes, the big question is whether he can get back to that circa 21-23 level.
JDG was given all sorts of excuses here, as he usually does, mainly surrounding the hit he received early in the match.I found it surprising how little was made here and in the media generally about Jordy’s prelim (8 effective disposals playing 100% mid) unless I just missed it.
We looked a million bucks in our first final when he was firing but then in typical Jordy fashion you get that performance two weeks later.
You would think at a minimum Nick has lost some confidence that night that he’s got the right midfield partners going forward (Pendles down with injury, Long, Jordy, Sidey ineffective).
De goey made massive progress during the year, I did think he was cooked. Pre finals the club stated he was further progressed than they expected. With a preseason, without hindrance, he would deliver much more. A finals match winner is gold.Let's face it, in the prelim JDG didn't fire a shot, he looked cooked. When Leppa said in the prelim Brisbane smashed at clearance, and got field position on us, it would have been directed at Long and JDG. if you want to rejuvenate the list, he has currency and makes sense, depending on who you get back. Im hoping Humphrey but think it will be Simpkin, Humphrey seems keen to reunite with Steven King at Melbourne.
And I have invested too much emotion into him to see him play for someone else. So many BF posts defending his honour. I can't let that go.Still think about that 23 PF effort he gave, monstrous final. I still think he’s worth more to us than accepting cents on the dollar for his potential top level play
You wanna piece of me?JDG was given all sorts of excuses here, as he usually does, mainly surrounding the hit he received early in the match.
Haven't they been in a slow-moving implosion for two decades?Hope the Dons keep Merrett just so we can watch the implode next season.
Or SENI dont click on anything offered up by the likes of Ralph and Morris. Easy done.
I hope they keep him because “I want out of my club because I think we are shit and can’t make finals” is a pisstake of an excuse, by a contracted captain who has renegotiated his contract twice including as recently as last year.Hope the Dons keep Merrett just so we can watch the implode next season.
I would have said he chose financial aggrandisement rather than stabiltiy. If stability waqs all that he was after, he had it at Collingwood in the form of a contract. but he has lost his old friends, has the new challenges, expectations and pressures. I can't see much difference between their situations.Didn’t Mihocek choose financial stability?
Sydney are out of their minds.
I think he’s currently a rock solid type who has the potential to breakout, but I would stress the could from my post and I posted it more to indicate how weak our midfield is than how good he is right now.Is he that good? Interesting, you always hear about LDU, Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher when thinking about North.
Powell seems to fly under the rader, never really noticed him
