Cotchin had 3 premierships as a captain and the club did everything possible to facilitate that compared to Merret that has busted his gut out and won the B & F 6 times at a club that is a disaster what more could they have asked for after promising him the world of improvement in the club when he signed.

Maybe a Deledio comparison would have been a better comparison but that wouldnt have suited your narrative
Merret gave them 12 great years and leadership and had the right to ask for a respectful departure whilst getting the bombers a great draft hand

I think this kid was 1 of the players that we had our eyes on last year and could possibly have been a Toce pick for a late selection and the club would have seen a fait bit of him that didnt eventuate due to our preferred boys
there would be a good reason why we traded for him rather than wait to select him via rookie draft and probably wouldnt have got to Richmond with the eagles extra rookie picks

Good point so scouts would have had a fair dossier on him and has since improved his claims with a good year at VFL

If they were to lose a contracted captain of the club because he's getting to the end of his career and wants to desperately win a flag (with another club!!); then that is the sign of a weak club.

A new president takes over and repeatedly said he won't be traded. What message are you then sending if you go back on your word?

As for Merrett, show some love for the club that made you. The club on who's honour board your name will appear for future generations to see amongst some of the great champions of that club. Weak f'kn sook imo.
