The (small) soccer media over here, as well as those around the club, are talking a big game for the Glory this season.

Signings look to be good.....but having been a fan of the club for so long has taught me that getting your hopes up or expecting rapid improvement is a total mugs game.

The one thing I do have to look forward to is....surely it can't be as bad as the last two seasons, I mean even if we finish bottom again there is almost no way it can't be an improvement.....surely?....😬

Don't we all! except Colonial

Sydney FC haven't won for while now through bit of a drought for their standards ong may it continue I say.. but they bounce back with a vengeance when they have a poor previous season so they'll be one to look out for.

Not to be picky, but the timezones acronyms for this time of year are:

AEDT - (Vic / NSW) Australia Eastern Daylight Savings Time
AEST - (QLD) Australian Eastern Standard Time
ACDT (SA) Australian Central Daylight Savings Time
AWST (WA) Australian Western Standard Time
NZDT (NZ) New Zealand Daylight Savings Time

Might make it a bit clearer with the game time posts.

Hooray! The longest off season in sports is over

We need 14 teams next season. 30 game season (play everyone twice plus 4 extra). 2 games before international break in September. Round 3 same weekend as AFL GF (games in Melbourne on Friday night only).

Plus a pre season cup, high profile friendlies and we're getting things going.

I won't believe it until I see it.

Not next season.

When? The off season is too long - is there a longer professional off season anywehere?. Season needs to start before the mid Sept international break until the end of May.

Maybe not right after a club has folded due to unsustainable costs? The league is barely afloat with 12 teams let alone 14.

Off season is shorter than AFL's and besides the fact it barely keeps its head above water as is, do we really want the fixture crowding Europe has?

We definitely need to improve our dismal record against the sky blues, I think we’ve only beaten them 3 times since the 2016 GF. Having said that I don’t expect us to be a title contender (as usual) with the cheapness at the top.

Nice first game.

Suuuuurely there’s a better alternative than the Roar playing at Suncorp in front of no one.

There's actually a decent crowd but for some reason they are all on the non broadcast side and the den end.

Anything under 15k in Suncorp feels sparse.

I did away there about 15 years ago. 10,500 was the crowd and that felt empty.

As for an alternative there's a strong push for Perry Park to be upgraded to a 15k boutique stadium.

Looks a real sml crowd at AAMI Park tonight, any reason for this or are crowds at Victory matches just still continuing to dwindle?

I wonder if interest in the league as a whole has dwindled. I don't know the numbers but it seems like to me that crowd numbers have dropped year on year and the league haven't helped themselves selling the rights to a streaming service that a lot of people don't have.
