Assuming we finish approximately where we have the last 4 years it’s probably going to be a good thing for us.

We tend to play in unofficial wild card rounds most years under Bevo when we leave our mad dashes to the finish line to the last second.

it gives the teams that finish 8-10 like us something to get excited about for a week before we get bundled anyway.

Even more reason to try and get a top 4 finish so you don’t chance it and have a bad day when you finish 7th with 15 wins.

Not saying I really like it but, going by the trending results of this team, good chance it will implicate us in a positive way, even if fleeting.

The people that make decisions about the AFL have three things in common.

They have zero ideas of their own.

They are enamoured by the NFL and NBA and given the abscene of their own ideas, will import wholesale from these laegues.

They are, inexplicably, petrified of the NRL.

In short, they are incompetent and scared and the absolute worst possible people to be in charge of a provincial sport.

I should add that supporters have the power to mobilise and stop these changes.

European football supporters did just that when their own clubs were colluding together to form a breakaway super league.

They used their patronage to stop it dead in its tracks and we can do the same here if we want to.

What he's really saying is that they will be able to upsell the broadcasters on the razzamatazz of an extra final. Dildo really must think that the great unwashed football supporter is as dumb as that blank faced knob comes across.

Given they'd need to win 5 'finals' in a row.

I think its pretty safe to say that a side from outside the top 6 will never win the flag again.

But sure, the supporters of teams 9 and 10 will be able to chase that dream like a thirsty man heading towards a mirage on the horizon in the Sahara.

Plenty. MLS, NBA, NHL, soccer systems where they have a round of 16 from a 24-team tournament, etc. etc.

Apparently all the clubs agreed to the wildcard round. So whoever finishes 7th/8th and gets steamrolled week one of finals better not bitch and moan about it.

Actually not against the idea of a final 10, 5 week finals series personally. Especially if Tassie comes in and we have a 19 team finals series, if we all agree that a final series should be approximately the top half of all teams.

But I think it's a bit silly to be giving six finals teams byes. If I'm watching footy four weeks before the grand final give me more than just the two games to watch. I really don't care if it's merely a sort of re-seeding game that if 6th beats 2nd that they get to "jump into" the top 4 equivalent for a similar finals series the following game. It's more good footy between two high-quality teams for me to watch in the pointy end of the season.

Let’s be real though….in most seasons, the team that is 10th is 4-5 games behind 7th. They don’t deserve a shot at it and it’s realistically just gonna make two more average games
