Alright, back on track. I've whipped up a quick consensus again – will add the missing ones as they're made available.

I reckon we would be trying for that too, although Robey will go so early that we would have to do a deal with West Coast to get him.

If they want Farrow, they may be willing to swap 2 and 13 (which will probably be pick 16) for 7 and 8. If they do that, they could end up with CDT/Duursma, Farrow and Cumming/Grlj, which would really help them build their midfield around Reid.

There’s talk the Eagles are trying to do that deal with the Dons for picks 5/6.

If that fails I think we should aim to do what you suggested, probably throwing in a sweetener. Maybe add GC F1 and ask for WC F2 back? Or similar.

How do you know Nairn isn’t ’absolute best available’ in the eyes of MFC recruiters?

Guess the question should more be, why would he be only rated the best available at that point of the draft by 1 out of 18 teams recruitment?

Would imply Taylor is either really really ridiculously good that or really really bad. Also implies that it is a huge risk rather than a broader consensus safe option, which I think we should be going for.

Too much of a risk with a fair few recent first round duds we have taken and TAS about to come in and blow up draft. For me I rather we go safe and build a strong core opposed to getting cute and trying to zig when other clubs zag.

How do you know where 17 other clubs rate him? I remember Max Holmes wasn't rated super high, we were hoping to get him then Geelong leap-frogged us at the last second.

Georgiades was similar. Was expected to go in the second round somewhere but Port got him early. Pickett and Jackson were both considered big reaches at the time too.

Lol, how do you know what any recruiters are thinking, let alone 18

He's literally just gone off what Marc McGowan wrote in the Age and has ran with it without zero insight to potentially what other clubs line of thinking is with Nairm.

For all we know there is probably a few clubs in the teens that have been hoping that he would have quietly been available at their pick. Now that there is noise that we may potentially get him early thats probably frustrated those clubs.

I'm sure Port who have no 1st or 2nd round pick would gladly snap him up in a heart beat considering he'd be a perfect fit for their list need.

Yep and I feel like we’d go
Robey #2 + Pickett/Nairn #13

What did Marc McGowan write? I don’t have access to the age.

Let’s be honest, Holmes wouldn’t be the player he is today if he developed under Goodwin.

Jackson was only considered a reach due to questions over taking a ruck early in the draft, the 2019 draft we already had a strong core of talent to take a risk on someone like Pickett.

I’m just saying I think we should take a safer route this draft opposed to going for higher risk, higher reward players or drafting based on need.

Should grab Grlj/Farrow if on the board. Let’s not piss away our Trac picks like we did the Jackson ones.

Who do you hope/think we will draft Nev?
My guess of order of our preference: Robey, Cumming, Nairn, Farrow, Pickett, Dovaston.

I really hope we end up with one of Pickett or Dovaston given our need in that area and the concerns I have about the size and speed of our forward line not matching what we've heard so far about the game style.
