Yeh the only top 10 pick for North Melbourne in 20 years besides 'you know who' who will enter their 1st contract year unsigned.

But nothing to see here. Maybe he loves the club so much re-signing earlier would overwhelm his adrenal system.

We're up against it I think to keep him. Every other club knows he's gettable and would want to get him.
If he does the work and becomes a best 23 player for us, then we have a fighting chance.
Another sure sign for me that we anticipate him leaving would be if we draft Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves.

there are big question marks on all three. Would certainly want them all to play a fair chunk of the season. But I reckon goater and george will succumb and be dusted at the end of the year

Sadly evidence is on your side. Goater has to be one of the biggest teases and he is the exact kind of player we need and could use.

To be fair not every club will try to get him.

There is a few ways this goes….

He improves and locks into our best 23 behind significant development. In that situation I believe he will stay. I think it would show he is willing to put in the hard work and improve and will see results.

He has slight improvement and plays 10ish games again with varying success. If that happens he will go but probably to a club that can offer a list spot and game time or sell a vision.

He regresses further and may get a spot at an Essendon where they will take a punt purely because of his draft spot.


Really hoping the 1st one but feel option 2 the most likely

On the other, all we've got so far is that duursmas hasn't left before his contract expired, and hasn't yet re-signed beyond his contract year. It's dumb to claim we're out of the woods. We've (rightfully) blocked the doorway in a situation where we shouldn't have had to do so.

The campaigner stinks of essendon. There's no point worrying, but good grief, he gives off a strong vibe. We'll all watch his season with great interest/trepidation

I don't like shit canning the younger blokes but what we see now and what you describe as a conditioning focus probably don't align as well as you suggest.

Hopefully he is over his injury issues and gives this pre season a red hot crack.

I don’t buy the Essendon link. It’s not a family club. They’ve got one of the best draft pick hauls they’ve had in years and they didn’t once attempt an offer (didn’t make an attempt at pick 1 either to secure the elusive other brother of a guy they traded a second rounder for).
