Points Matching- How to Calculate:

Picks 1-18: Points value of pick less 10% discount
Picks 19-36: Points value of pick less 84 points discount
Picks 37+ : Next available pick

From the points required deduct the value of the next available pick and repeat until the total of the picks used exceeds the value required. The value of the surplus is then used to add back the pick closest to that value

For example a bid at pick 2 for Uwland:
• Pick 2 = 2481 points less 10% means 2233 points are needed to match
• Gold Coast have picks 15 (973), 18 (836), 24 (621) totalling 2430 points
• There is a surplus of 197 points which is equivalent to pick 43 (184 points)
• So to match, Gold Coast lose picks 15,18,24 and gain pick 43

Draft order is up and stickied at the top of the page. The order is based on each club having available the maximum number of picks expected to be used as written by Cal Twomey - it’s possible clubs may actually have more spots available than they intend to use picks but without an official listing from the AFL I’ve done the closest approximation

I’ve also included an explanation of how to calculate the picks required to match a bid plus the DVI table for reference in case I’m not online when a bid is made to do the calculation - you can do it yourselves

CountryLad since you have West Coast the first selection is yours and time starts at 10.00am WST, Tuesday 11/11

Have fun everybody and please do your collective best to move it along as fast as possible - if you know you’re going to be offline for an extended period please message me your preferences and I will make a selection in line with your instructions

I think Carlton have 54 unless I'm looking at an out of date order Keys

They do but according to Twomey they only intend making 3 selections so I’ve only given them 3 picks - 9,11,43 and 54 has been eliminated in the same way I struck out 58 for West Coast

I’m not sure how many actual open list spots clubs have and honestly can’t be ****ed working it out, so in the absence of the official list from the AFL that will come out eventually, I’ve used Twomey’s picks used article to guess how many spots clubs have.

It’s likely to be unders for some clubs but 58 is the maximum number of picks expected to be taken

Trust that makes sense

I was going off Miguel Sanchez thread in the DT board that said they had 4 live picks that may include a rookie upgrade, so not 100% sure either way.

TBH, that’s probably correct but I’ve had a hard enough time keeping track of our list spots without trying to determine what 17 other clubs have so I’ve done my best guess

Going to get this Mock draft going a fraction early as I’ll be tied up with a meeting for the next couple of hours.

Couldn’t get a decent trade done for pick 2 which probably shows it’s not going to happen, as clubs like our fellow posters are probably happy with the picks they hold and don’t feel the need to pay overs to move up.

I’ll bid on a couple of players after pick 1 and if they aren’t matched I’ll be back in a few hours to select our second pick otherwise will do a write up on the non matched bid later.

With Pick One West Coast Select Willem Duursma.

Willem Duursma shapes as the standout talent of this year’s AFL Draft and a worthy choice for the No.1 pick. A naturally gifted athlete with clean skills, aerial impact and genuine versatility, Duursma’s game is built on a blend of athletic power and football IQ.

At the National Draft Combine, Duursma confirmed what many recruiters already knew, he’s an elite athlete. A sub-three second 20-metre sprint, sixth place in the 2km time trial, and an 87cm running vertical jump highlighted his explosive speed, endurance and leap. These traits make him a threat both in the air and on the spread, capable of breaking games open with his movement and marking ability.

Duursma’s strengths lie in his ability to adapt to multiple roles. He reads the ball exceptionally well in flight, has clean hands at ground level, and displays composure under pressure. These traits allow him to transition seamlessly between half-back, wing, midfield and has even shown glimpses of his game in the forward line at Coates league level.

Coming from a family that are well inter grated in the AFL with his two brothers and a sister already at the elite level Duursma brings a strong professional foundation and maturity when interviewed beyond his years.

The key area for growth will be his contested game. While his aerial ability has been strong at 18’s level he will need to build on this AFL level. He’ll also need to build consistency in winning 50/50 ground balls and imposing himself at stoppages. The challenge at AFL level will be utilising his athleticism but becoming stronger in the contest, allowing him to evolve into a genuine inside-outside midfielder.

If that development comes, Duursma has the potential to become a complete modern midfielder — powerful, composed, and damaging both at the contest and in transition. In any of the past three drafts, he would comfortably sit among the top couple of prospects. His ceiling is as high as any player in recent years.

To match Brisbane need 2233 points

Picks 17,23,44,51 give them a total of 1756 points which is an overall deficit of 477 points

TheBudgies

I’d be approaching Essendon (picks 21,27,30) or North Melbourne (picks 25,26) to see if they’re interested in a trade

Alternatively, Hawthorn might be interested in your F1 for pick 22

Haven't heard back from Schtinker no bingo anywhere else.

Very lame as now I'm effectively not in the draft anymore. I'll take him and go into deficit.

Interesting not bidding with pick 1.

We would still land WD either way and I don't think his ego would bruise from not being pick 1 selection.

Personally, Id prefer the ultra aggressive path, but that may just be me.

Maximum benefit to our club is to make them pay top price.

Interested to see where it goes from here 😀
I picked him because I think he’s the best player in the draft and deserves to go pick one. It probably wouldn’t bruise his ego but I believe in rewarding a player if they deserve it. Going pick one carries prestige and a small bounty to boot, welcome West Will.

More realistic in that there is very little chance the club bids with pick one also.

In hindsight, it was the height of optimism sending my choices for Pick 3 to Keys because I was going into a meeting at 1pm 😢
My first pick is in the 40's now. The draft might've actually happened by the time I take it.

Because Brisbane still have up to 3 list spots to fill, I’ve added three picks at the end of the draft order

Keys, Richmond and Brisbane have agreed a trade. Richmond send pick 37 and their 2026 fourth round pick to Brisbane in exchange for pick 56 and their 2026 first round pick oops I mean second round pick.
