I really wouldn’t have wanted him to be coach in 2027 if that's our final result tbh.

I really think this could change things in terms of whether making finals is good enough to keep a coach his job.

Reality is most of the time if you make finals there's probably enough there that not much improvement is needed for top four (easier said than done of course).

If you slip into wildcard weekend with 10-11 wins and get smashed by 7th, you're much further off than what teams in 7th and 8th were this year. It could be different if that happens.
Ladder positions 7-10 are not a win. I guess if you get on a role and manage to win your way to Semi Final or Prelim and that is a good effort. But winning wildcard elimination final and then losing a top 8 elimination final is not a good outcome.

We are rising and the AFL knows it. I think we will get a lot of good fixtures. Saturday nights. Some Friday night games.
Yes, the famously reliable Fremantle and the AFL who are well known for rewarding a secondary team in an established market…

I’ve grown to enjoy us on Sunday nights, it’s nice being able to do other things with your entire weekend.

Apparently the Afl has lifted to 4 the number of double ups a team can have against teams in their own ladder grouping.
Wildcard round may be needed to weed out the teams that get into the lower part of the eight through an easy draw.

Incoming easiest draw in history to the Weevils, won’t make much difference for them though.

Why are so many posters mentioning the opening round situation,
did they forget last year that the Geelong game was cancelled and the year before we even beat Brisbane coming off the OR.

I swear we look to play the victim any chance we get.
But it’s about fairness. Any team that didn’t play opening round should not be playing a team that did.

It’s inherently unfair and just shouldn’t be happening.

Same with any bye round really. Just eliminates a fixture inequality that shouldn't need to exist.

And I don't buy any excuse the afl comes up for it either.

Its actually quite funny and laughable.

So last round this year Carlton play Essendon on a Thursday night, and oh shit a few weeks out the FTA broadcaster tell AFL to shove it.

Then a few months later the draw for the first 2 rounds next year come out and Carlton are back on Thursday night prime time in both as Carlton v Richmond is the following Thursday to opening round.
To top this off

Carlton get Thursday night in Gather Round and Good Friday against North Melbourne

So whats that 4 prime time games in the first 6 weeks.

3 of those games are against teams that missed the finals last year.

AFL never change and never will
