If this is pick 1 material then you're scraping at the bottom at the barrel.I'm not saying that Langford wasn't a top 5 candidate for the rising star. I'm saying the actual award is flawed. Deeply flawed. It's very hard not to make top 5 if you're a well developed early pick, playing for a 14th ranked team and playing the majority of games. It's got very little to do with performance and more to do with games played.
Most of the players nominated either didn't play enough games due to being developed or suffering injury. It's a joke award and I pointed that out listing scrubs that have won the award. Let alone guys that have come 4th.
It's fine. You would've been a Windsor guy, until you weren't.
Langford exceeded my expectations in his first year, but his flaws are still plain to see for me. And I was high on tauru then and now it's a no contest. And here we are 1 year on, at another draft without a key defensive option because there's none in the top 10 and Xavier Taylor won't make it to us. And now after seeing what Tauru did in limited games, I would be taking him at pick 1. Comfortably over Lalor.

tbf, Langford beating being ruled out with an ACL was a very low bar to clearThe weird thing is that Langford is better than Petracca in their respective first years.
(I know you're probably referring to the first year he 'played' Yep, played. Should have phrased it bettertbf, Langford beating being ruled out with an ACL was a very low bar to clear(I know you're probably referring to the first year he 'played'

Only having a bit of fun mate, we get what you meantYep, played. Should have phrased it better

He'd want to improve his defensive efforts here because this is pretty piss poor and lazy defending regardless of who he is playing on.
Ok, I'll bite once. How about his mark of the year nomination?
not gonna post the clips of hodge comparing him to Glen Archer or Lyon frothing over Tauru? How about his mark of the year nomination? or his elite spoils? Or are u forgetting Langford one armed squibbing in marking contests? be balanced.
So if i was list manager we'd have our key defender locked in for the next 15 years. Let me know how Jed Adams goes.
Or Russel Robertson , Jeremy Howe or Liam JurrahOk, I'll bite once.
You want to discredit the Rising Star award as a measurement of a player's success, but then use a Mark of the Year nomination to further your argument?
By that metric, Juice Newton should be a hall of famer.
Give it a rest
I never even heard of Tauru until today lol.
nah i'm not using the mark of the year nomination as a measurement but the mark itseld in its own right. It showed his bravery and elite athleticism in the one act. I couldnt care less if he got a nomination or not. for the exact reason that i dont care about a rising star nomination.Ok, I'll bite once.

We all remember the Sparrow rollercoaster. He’ll be a true great of the game one day, like Tom Sparrow.
Thats not a simple mark. Also, as i said, winning a rising star means nothing. Lewis Taylor and Rhys Palmer won one. It just means youve played regular footy. So you'll happily acknowledge a simple mark of the year nomination but will happily disregard a rising star nomination with a top 4 finish.
Ok.
