For footy sponsor reasons we have to help out with Ronald McDonald house day. Rattle tins and raise money to help sick kids.

We are walking down the main street asking for donations calling out what we're raising for and I shit you not this old guy on a mobility scooter goes past and says "Get a job"

Absolute dickhead "Get a soul"
Should have slashed the tyres on his scooter.

BTW, are you in Benalla now?

Deja vu. I feel like we've had this exact conversation before

Are you thinking about LeverPuller maybe?
LeverPuller moved to Canberra for work.

I grew up in Canberra but moved to Melbourne in 2012

Yes I think I am.

And I bet we have had this convo before, sorry for wasting your time, again.

I was up there a while back, walk the dog around the lake. Also tried a couple of the pub meals.

Good times were had.

Growing up in Canberra, what was your connection to the Dees, parents?

I also live in Canberra!

Which pubs did you try?

No. Though my mum is SA so often put the AFL on while ironing. I would go for the team with the nicest strip.

Partner PG is the dees person, and I went from that “I’ll show an interest in what you’re into” to independent tragic status pretty quickly. Plus the dees were so bad that I thought they needed help through my concentration

In Benalla?

I know The Royal Hotel was one. can't recall the other but must have been the North Eastern as I would remember the Farmers Arms. I thought there was another one on Bridge St I went to but can't find it on google maps.

Would appear so, yes
I would really like if Chief gave us the :100: react option. Even if I was the only one who had it I wouldn't mind.

I would have given it for this post. It has a place on BF.

It would be good. I’ve asked for at least a green tick but nobody is listening

Caught it's last few years. Liked it, was a nice spot for music in the city
Terrific music. I liked it for all the wrong reasons. The clientele were pretty diverse, especially on dole cheque day. It felt like it was entirely populated by the residents of Ainslie Village and disgruntled public servants, and it was difficult to tell which group were weirder.

I like oddballs. I fit in really well

I love Canberra. Underrated by so many. Great place to grow up. I liked the lake, the planning, the Parliamentary Triangle. The functional, brutalist structures. Cycle paths to everywhere. Worked in Parliament House for a bit which was amazing (though has mice).

Yeah it was good in that sense everyone was welcomed. Run into some odd units occasionally but largely harmless, most just wanted a chat.

Yeah that’s what it was like. Mostly when you go to a pub or wine bar in Melbourne you go with a group and stick in that zone. Phoenix was really loose, you could wander in if you felt like a beer and find yourself chatting to someone else sitting at the bar and later find yourself in a group promising some really intense person that you would love to go to their unsponsored exhibition of sculpture made from lacquered stone fruit and found objects

Edit: shame it finally shut down because it was somewhere where Toump Ass would have been worshipped as a golden god
