Addinsall couldn't get the pill in the champs.

I refuse to take seriously the idea that this guy is a step above guys who are going to get picked 30 to 55 range. Id trade the pick into next year.
He only played one game due to a hammy, averaged 32 a game all year for the suns so was fairly consistent elsewhere.

Had a really strong 16th and 17th year - this has West Coast written all over it.

I am very happy with the notion we will take Duursma, CDT and Addinsall.
Basically drafting Bont, Jackson and Neale!

Addinsall covers that midfield extractor we want, hes not an inside bull, hes a bit more balanced than that which I like. Hes the type of guy you plonk into the middle, let him do 80% CBAs every week and he wont let you down. Good balance for Harley and Hewett.
Assuming Duursma does go into the middle in a couple years time, along with Harley and Hewett we would pretty much have our midfield completed assuming players develop like we expect.

Duursma, Addinsall, Harley, Hewett plus a defensive mid role player from somewhere(Ginbey?), then throw in some rotations from whoever McCarthy/Evans/Williams/Brockman/etc
Also not unhappy matching a Williams bid that early. Need quality small/medium forwards.

If we take Addinsall im ok missing on one of Banfield/Evans if it comes to it. At the end of the day theyre rated that low for a reason, it would be a shame but with the 3 mature age mids we are linked to, plus Duursma and Addinsall and the mids we have drafted in the last 3-4 years its not the end of the world if we miss one.

I think both Evans and Banfield are a very good chance to slide to the rookie draft anyway.

Given his type he's a poor value selection at our third pick and I'll live in hope that Twomey has a moving target for once.

Nice to see the love pouring out for my boy Addinsall finally. I think he has a higher ceiling than Sharp, will put my nads on it. Just hope he falls our way on draft night like Cal reckons.

Also that Duursma kid looks like a decent consolation prize and CDT might be alright

Expose yourself more 🤣, he played one game due to hamstring complications and even then had 7 clearances.

He showed the ability to get the pill at VFL level, that’s far more important than Champs 🤣

Metres gained per disposal is his biggest weakness. Aka the modern game.
He just appears to be turnover avoidant from my eye, he’s certainly a better kick than Sharp.

His kick could do with some extra penetration but he is a good-great over 35m and makes very good choices.

Reckon it’s not hard to get him to look to kick the ball more and his handball game is very good at getting the ball outside the contest.

I’ll go out on a limb and say Addinsall is more like to have an impact in the midfield next year than Sharp.

I have confidence as you’re more likely to be able to beat oppo mids through footy IQ/stoppage work as a 18yo than strength.
I think itd be easier to get him around the ball than Sharp with his better running and stoppage craft as you say. Probably still wont do a whole lot and his positional flexibility is potentially a slight issue to help him get into the side.

I dont think he has to play much in 2026 anyway, no rush, Gross, Hall and Dev are there to explore anyway.

I can not see a world where the eagles don’t bid on or take Banfield at some point in the draft. Drew is wce royalty and to not select him would just be….well, I just can’t see it happening, which means if we miss out on anyone my gut feel is it would be Evans.

Hopefully though all works out and one falls into the rookie draft and all the whispers are only that.

I want someone who noobermensch hasnt even made a video about he is that irrelevant :D

By 9:45pm tomorrow night I want noobermensch waffling over hours of footage to present a 50 second YT highlight video of our guy being the 5th person in a contest to join in a gang tackle of someone already held up with the ball and us to go all "Look at how quick he got to that contest, he is a star"
I want Callum Papertalks younger Brother.

Yeah, I think we would take Banfield before Evans for sure with that 5th list spot.

Evans probably goes to the rookie draft

Interesting that we had reported interest in another young Victorian ruckman as a potential late pick.
I wonder if we are thinking about drafting someone other than CDT at 2 or are wanting to trade 2?

More likely:

We would need to have already done our homework, on the off chance someone came to us with an outrageous head turning offer to get CDT, highly unlikely, BUT to be thoroughly prepared we would also need to be right on top of what Plan B would look like if we traded out pick 2.

Also need to have a solid backup plan in case we get offers for any of picks 13, 34, 41.

You're obviously a fan, but you're living in hope as far as output goes.

Addinsall is crafty but he's small and unathletic, the kicking skills are below the required level and technically poor. Stylistically yes, there's a lot of Neale but his AFL career has been possible due to his build and that's not something that you can project.

He's an outside chance of having a long AFL career and lacks the size, skill and athleticism needed to warrant a top end selection.

So the far more athletic, better skilled Addinsall is not worth a pick at 19 but we should reach on the less athletic less skilled Sharp at 2 because he’s a bit bigger.

Interesting.
