Have to agree Soapy, our development has been poor. But in saying that, watching some of the guys performing in the VFL last year and playing themselves into form, then brought that same level of good form into the seniors was an outlier on years gone past. I hope that continues and improves. On paper we now have much improved Coaching group. Looks great
I don’t see the Simpson appointment as a threat to Voss at all
I am so happy with our Development focus. Been such a weakness for years
Key now will be can they work well together and communicate. Need to be on same page and be able to have strong conversations.
Simpson will need to be very strong with Voss. Voss is strong willed and rarely changes opinion. It’s a strength and a weakness.
If we don’t come out Round One with a new game style and focus changes will happen very quickly
Massive pre season for so many

Better than Jack’s cafe, that’s for sure! He’s going to love the latte’s on Lygon Street.
"Voss needs better support"To all those supporters who start reading tea leaves and assume every appointment is an expression of the dark arts administered by faceless men; Simpsons appointment is what proper strategy looks.like
It is better to embrace a mentor than believe you know everything and cannot learn anything new, pretty sure.Is it a good sign when you need to hire a mentor for a senior coach who's been doing the job for nearly 10 years?
Discussion of group think implies that maybe Voss wasn't getting critical feedback internally

I wouldn’t read too much into the West Coast rabble angle. I watched some of Simpson’s analysis last year and thought it was excellent. It’s not rocket science, the vast majority of us can see the inefficiencies in our ball movement and the lack of a modern game plan. Hopefully Simpson can help get that through to Vossy and make an impact. Not sure how I feel about this appointment.
On the one hand, I was vocal in my belief that Vossy needed an ex coach somewhere on staff to help him out. So in that regard, it's an excellent decision.
On the other hand, yes Simpson coached a flag...but over the course of the next 6 seasons, he watched over probably the biggest rabble the AFL has seen in a long time. Yes, there were some factors beyond his control...but still...the buck stops with the coach.
I just hope they've earmarked him for a role that complements his skillset...and he sticks to that and that only.
7 West Media have had a target on Simpson since 2020. They ****ing hate himReported over here in WA channel 7 “as putting pressure on Voss.

Hopefully Voss uses him.

Well. It's already been confirmed Lloyd and others were just yes men / conflict avoiders.Discussion of group think implies that maybe Voss wasn't getting critical feedback internally
I’m yet to see these strengths you speak of with Voss.Like the appointment. Think this is great synergy by the footy club.
Simpsons strengths is more strategic and Vossy's strengths are more on the implementation side.
and a smart footy brain and quality personWelcome Adam. Premiership player and coach.
The flag winning coach was in charge of an absolute rabble his last 4 years at wet toast, they were apparently the worst team ever and he was sacked and Carlton now want him to oversee our performances and point out where we are going wrong. Why?
Was nothing wrong with Malthouse or Simpson, both instances are that of a weak list. Could the coach have played a part in that? There are a lot of elements of a footy department and they can all throw a good coach under the bus. No coach can take a poor team off the bottom without those elements working well. The flag winning coach was in charge of an absolute rabble his last 4 years at wet toast, they were apparently the worst team ever and he was sacked and Carlton now want him to oversee our performances and point out where we are going wrong.
3 time flag winner malthouse how did that turn out for us.
