You wouldn’t take an F2 to hold over in case a solid role player wants to come and help out your best 23?See, you're being greedy now.
I'm happy with just cap space so each to our own.
4 years with a trigger - standard term when trading a player in.Yeh free, except for the significant salary and contract term.
It's overs for Allen but it is worth a punt because we have the premiership list already. We don't have to plug holes in the midfield which is where the game is won.4 years with a trigger - standard term when trading a player in.
$1.4 Year one
$650 ± years 2,3 4 = total contract of $837,500 per season - not that unreasonable in the current market and CBA.
For comparison, you're paying Oscar Allen "over $900k" per season, so lets call that $950k, over the last two years he's managed to scrape together 11 and 12 game seasons, so going off form you will be paying him $82,608.70 (on average) per game.
Ah Chee has managed 26 games per year the last two, so going off form we will be paying him $32,211.54 (on average) per game. Apples and oranges really.

And we're getting a two-time premiership player, becomes only the second player with premiership experience on our list. It's overs for Allen but it is worth a punt because we have the premiership list already. We don't have to plug holes in the midfield which is where the game is won.
Ah Chee played banged up this year and is coming off two of the longest and hardest seasons of any club in recent memory. If you got him at 26 when he's about to peak then it's worth it but there is no denying that's overs for an Ah Chee type. He's already won his flags and his main motivation in moving is money. That's also fraught with danger.
I mean sure on the stance stuff, but if a Lion who is similar to Ah Chee’s output is OOC in the future, surely there’s still going to be risk of the same situation playing out again? (If the team that’s wanting the player has the cap flexibility to take them in the PSD, of course)Something is better than nothing is the easier option to take, but we've obviously decided this is a trade where it's ok to get nothing if the value does not match our expectations. It has potentially sent a message on our club's stand for future trades as well.
Our list manager has done well across multiple years now so he has enough credits onboard to take that call.
I think a player manager with a brain helps to stop this from happening early doors and it's the reason why most deals usually just happen.I mean sure on the stance stuff, but if a Lion who is similar to Ah Chee’s output is OOC in the future, surely there’s still going to be risk of the same situation playing out again? It’s fair enough if that’s the new norm in what Bris are looking for in future negotiations, but when a player is OOC, it’s still a stance that won’t always pay offI think a player manager with a brain helps to stop this from happening early doors and it's the reason why most deals usually just happen.

He will be worth every cent for his experience and working with some of our young players.
Did you want to lose him? What you really only have two? We have um well I've run out of fingers and toes but knowing that I'm glad we let you have him for free. Kinda like a pity donation.
Did you want to lose him?
I mean the 1.3mil is irrelevant here, you weren’t willing to match the contract we originally put up, eitherAt $1.4M for 2026, 700k ongoing, yeah nah. He's looking at big final payday through to retirement and you value him around that ballpark so we can't compete at those levels.
I mean the 1.3mil is irrelevant here, you weren’t willing to match the contract we originally put up, either
Besides that - you wouldn’t have asked for a first round pick if you didn’t see him as a valued piece of your puzzle
Still, you valued Cal highly enough at the trade table to double down on wanting something of clear value in return - ie far from a charity case, as the other guy put it. Problem is, Crows always held the upper hand in negotiationsWe likely asked for a pick slide using your first round this year or next year - in turn bumping our points. This is identical to what we did in Starcevich deal. Lions asking for first round straight up is a bigfooty supporter built up narrative.
What you're paying him is totally relevant considering that's the main reason for his move. His early season comments was staying long term at Lions, it obviously changed when you guys knocked the door with big money.

Again, the 1.3mil figure you’re bringing up is clearly circumstantial and irrelevant. You were willing to pay 450-500k a year, we beat that offer by about 100-150k initially, you couldn’t/wouldn’t match it. Simple as that
So going back to the original poster’s point - not a charity case, your club clearly value him as a player and would’ve preferred to keep himHe's a dual premiership player for us, of course we're going to value him high on trade table. At the same time we are not going to pay him a salary that far outweighs the cap proportion allocated for rest of the list. Both statements can be true, one doesn't exclude the other from being true. In the end he decided $ long term was the priority and move elsewhere, that's Ah Chee looking after himself - which he's perfectly entitled to do.
We are able to keep our list together due to everyone taking unders. Harris Andrews would be on 700-800k for all we know - we are not loading Ah Chee up to that level just because you're throwing $1.4M or $700k long term at him to be honest.

Yes, players who want to earn good money from their short professional sporting career are a danger...It's overs for Allen but it is worth a punt because we have the premiership list already. We don't have to plug holes in the midfield which is where the game is won.

Where did I ask about how you can keep your list structure lol? And you’re again bringing up that million dollar figure to artificially inflate your points![]()
This doesn’t fly with the melts during trade period about Adelaide not paying fair price. This is just pure copiumYou did mention why we didn't match your offer - had to explain why. i.e our list structure.
We can treat him as charity when we argue with particular crom posters - that's the fun part![]()
