Not s whipping boy at all in my mind. Anyone that pulls on the colours I'll support and have to admit his highlights look great (they all do though)
Will definitely get compared to those 2 though, as will Williams and whoever we pick as a rookie

If they have, that's poor form. Only remotely negative thing I've seen attached to Allen at this point is the fact he's coming off a serious long term injury.
Not sure what people think of him as an analyst, but Dyl Alexander rates him very highly. Compared to FOS

When did he actually run this 2km time everyone is referring to?
Surely that's pre ACL, so what.. 6-12 months ago? Curious about what forum he did that in, clearly it wasn't the combine as that only happened recently.

Without naming names, and not wanting to start shit with other posters, yes.
Given this boards history of comparing players to the guys they wanted us to take instead (remember the Venables v SPP stuff?), I expect most people will move on and support this kid, but there's always one or two people who will blame the player.
Pretty sure most if not all are happy to have him. Very talented player.
People are annoyed that we also couldn't get all of the NGA/FS boys as well as him because of shoddy list management.
It was in the Pre-Season Testing.

"The setback also ruled Allen out of the AFL Draft National Combine but clubs are well aware of his athletic traits, which he advertised at the Coates League pre-season testing.
Allen was the only player nation-wide to break a metre with the running vertical jump, leaping 101cm off his left foot.
That was his only top 10 finish but he tested well overall and he also breaks six minutes comfortably in the two kilometre time trial and would have been favoured to win it had he tested at the National Combine.
A National Combine invite despite the setback indicates the level of interest he has received and Zero Hanger understands he has met with more than half of the 18 AFL clubs."

In fairness think the Banfield/Evans griping will be (me included) because they rated them ahead of Barnett + the necessity for Cripps to be on the main list. Nothing to do with Allen.
I'm keen to see how he goes! Will criticise other aspects of our list management/drafting strategy but in this case rate taking a punt on someone we rate who could have been higher pre ACL. Hopefully the progression is - he comes into the WAFL in the back half of the year and does well, and by end of next year is fully competing for a spot and gives us comfort in letting go the lowest performing of Robertson/Macrae/Schoenberg.
Think there's a lot of decisions to make around that and have been one of the ones to criticise our overall strategy but don't think this kid should be in danger of being a whipping boy because of it.

This kid looks exciting. But he looks exciting like Callum Bartlett looked exciting.

If, IF, IF he gets over the ACL and turns into a good player who gives us 150+ games then it'll look like a genius selection.
If he re-does his ACL or just turns out average then the recruiting team will really look like a bunch of egg-faced idiots. Especially with Curtin, FredRod and our F/S and NGAs still all there.
