They did pick up a similar player just before him (Kyle). A few Sydney fans were very big on taking Carmichael too, based on family members who follow the Swans and the Swans board on BF.

I feel like he's a solid non-star "good teammate" type. Not a direct comparison but like Shaggy Hargrave, his teammates loved him but relatively unknown outside of the kennel.
