Our strength and conditioning team are kidding themselves.
Looking like you “lift bro” doesn’t make you a good footballer or a fit footballer. Good footballers start with heart. Ive seen some of the smallest campaigners go hard as **** and make gun footballers, quite a few rakey wirey campaigners make those gym junky lookin campaigners look like piss weak flogs.. which they mostly are anyway.

Its not about the size of the gun, its how the gun is used… Or its not the size of the dog its the fight in the dog.

We just have too many piss weak campaigners, too many down hill skiers, too many passengers.. one of their names is bull and hasn’t acted like a bull since he cleaned up those two * flogs almost 10 years ago. He should be named after another agricultural growth.. Cabbage

Finbar Maley commented on how impressed he was by how hard the Crows players worked in the gym when he arrived. He said the boys there definately do not skip any of their gym sessions.

A lot of shit on here is mistaken for doomer-ism when actually we're just annoyed at the consistency with which this exact thing happens. Blokes who leave North should not be impressed when they arrive and witness the standards at their new club; they should see it as normal

Fair. Bit of a cultural item around the gym more than formal program given the time of year Finnbar made the comment.

On the flip side we did have Parker and Darling come into the club and state they were impressed, which is just as valid as Finnbar's statement.

I wouldn't be surprised if Darling was impressed, coming from West Coast, one of the only teams we can outdo stamina-wise. Parker; more likely he was trying to pump up a young group. BBB, one of our best runners, went to Melbourne, found himself in the middle of the pack, and we haven't really progressed from there since

They're both premiership players, they know what a decent program looks like. I'm not saying you're wrong, but pointing out if we're going to read into Finnbar's comments then we should also be reading into the positive ones from players coming to us.

There's one key difference. When other teams trot out the 'oh this off season we've killed it,' 'this bloke's poised for AA,' 'we're fitter than we've ever been,' and so on ad nauseam, they tend to perform on field. When we say it, we return in the first four weeks and show the same shit habits that we have for about seven years. You're a glass half full type. Great. Just make sure you don't tip into insanity territory. This was supposed to be the important year, now it's next year. There's nothing to stop us continuing to defer that jump up the ladder if we'd like

I know people like to go full doomer on us. It’s fair to do aswell given output on the field.

I genuinely believe the group we have now for the most part is fully dedicated to winning and having that winning culture, the hard part for us is achieving that mentally. When you have consistently lost for a long time losing becomes a habit.

Even though people can feel indifferent having a successful girls program surely increases motivation for the boys not that the should need it.

I have a feeling if we start this season strongly and bank early wins you will see us move up the ladder quicker then you think. Brisbane was in dire straights for a long time then had that kick start. We have winners on our list that will help with that.

Brown actually said his fitness levels were so far behind the main group at Melbourne when he arrived that he was sent off to the rehab group for 4 weeks & had to do extra sessions in order to catch up.

I feel like it's difficult to measure how much of that is North fitness and how much of that is just where BB was at the time considering the knee issues and surgery that he had at the end of his time at North that lingered into another surgery in his first pre-season with the Dees.
