I quite like watching the NFL but don’t do it religiously. Do always keep track of the scores and standings though

Completely understand why some people don’t enjoy it though - it’s a lot of set up and strategy punctuated by short, violent bursts of mayhem, the intricacies of which are not obvious to the uninitiated
In the 90s? I used to watch the NFL highlights package with my brother that was on at about 10.30 every Tuesday night on the ABC (hosted by the one and only Don Lane). I used to really enjoy watching that.

Then I watched an actual game, and realised the 30 minute highlights package (which was focused on one game) actually had most of the actual game play in it.

I was much the same as many in here - didn't rate the NFL, what a shit game, so stop start.

Late 2021 I had it on KAYO, background noise as it was, was during the finals.

For some reason, I cant recall, I actually sat down and watched with that game with intent, and boy did I fall head over heels in love with the game.

Found myself searching up phrases and plays and positions etc, over the coming weeks.

Now I watch the game every week and I love it. But I can absolutely understand why people don't.

AFL will always be my #1 but I do love the NFL.

Jesus. I cut my teeth on playing Madden in the 90's. It's how you learn all the coverages and offensive plays.

I love sports, so don't mind NFL, but wouldn't rate in top 5 of sports I'd want to watch. Top 5 after thinking about it for 5 seconds, probably forgotten something really obvious.

1. AFL
2. Test Match Cricket
3. NBA
4. World Cup Football
5. Premier league / champions league

I have a few American mates I've worked with over the years who were the same re Oz rules.
In the mid to late 90s they got a few games and highlights on cable each week, there was a group of them from around Montana that went the same way as you, did a bit of research and ended up getting really into it, they were never a 100% clued in on the rules but just enjoyed the game for what it was.

I wonder if any Aussies (not Irish expats) follow Hurling and Gaelic football. Also i wonder if any Irish follow AFL footy but i suspect a lot hate the game cause we steal their talent and how we play against them in international rules

One thing that I can’t wrap my head around with NFL is teams up and moving away from cities. It just seems so bizzare. You do that in England people would burn the club down and even here an AFL club changing cities would have such an uproar. If the Eagles chmaged cities, I’d probably stop watchong footy

Back on the squirt again Vish?

For me:
1. Eagles [mens]
2. Chelsea [mens]
3. Chelsea [womens]
4. NFL [Packers}
5. Beagles
6. Saint Mary's [Darwin NTFL]
7. NBA [Lakers]
and a few others, so I watch a lot of sport.
Oh and the Eagle's women, of course.

I actually don’t watch sport quite frankly. Watch the Eagles and not much other footy games. Will watch a bit off test cricket and then BBl when i have no work.

5-6 years ago I was watching close to every game of footy and watched every day of test cricket as well as every BBL and white ball games on tv
