No. It has 130 year history of local footy & cricket. I recon CricketTas will use it for Sheffield Shield & women's state cricket. So what happens to Bellreive now?
Bulldozed and turned into housing?

Its part of the business case which gives the Devils the best chance for financial security. The AFL have been burnt enough by some other clubs already, so wanted some certainty before the club starts its journey.A shout out to Andrew Dillion in all this.
His insistence that the Stadium be built for a team to happen despite all the opposition has played a large part in coming to this outcome.
Yep, the plan is for a new training facility near the airport. Bellerive is still an historic sports & recreation area, so I can't see the NIMBY community or council just pulling it down for housing. Demolition alone would cost a small fortune so wouldn't be a very sensible economic move.CT intending to build their own state of the art training facility, i reckon those low drawing crowd matches will end up there. BBL/WBBL/Tests/ODI/IT20 and hell maybe even some shield matches like finals to mac point. CV still use the MCG on occasion.

3 hours lol Why bother.Webb spoke for 3 hours and they went until 2:30 heck me.
Cassy Oconnor and the anti morons are a stain on this state .
I see they all want to keep fighting
If it was an anti-colonialism centre with the same cost and dimensions as the stadium that also required bulldozing the cenotaph they would support it.Webb spoke for 3 hours and they went until 2:30 heck me.

his cenotaph 'concerns' aside - flanagan does make a good point on how the anzac tradition/myth has been weaponised as some sort of bizarre purity test on australian values ..... a very good point in factSo interesting how prominent anti Richard Flanagan who called ANZAC day a "dangerous myth" and opposes spending on war memorials which he refers to as the "cult of ANZAC" now cares about sight lines at a cenotaph.
You're allowed to have those opinions, just don't expect people to also think you are genuine when talking about protecting the sanctity of a cenotaph.his cenotaph 'concerns' aside - flanagan does make a good point on how the anzac tradition/myth has been weaponised as some sort of bizarre purity test on australian values ..... a very good point in fact
i digress
agreeing with you - his 'cenotaph' concerns make no sense in the wider context of what hes said, written and spoken about the weaponisation of the anzac myth ... in this instance it appears hes nefariously used it to advance another agenda which is hypocritical to put it mildlyYou're allowed to have those opinions, just don't expect people to also think you are genuine when talking about protecting the sanctity of a cenotaph.
This is what smart propagandists do. Just throw every accusation no matter how flimsy or how much they actually believe them against whatever it is they don't like and hope enough of the accusations land to shape public perception.
How much will they end up spending? There's no way it will be possible for the state to cap its contribution at the level she's insisting given what the stadium cost will blow out to. So unless they are planning on finding 3rd party funding im not sure what the point of her clause there is.
It’s not really that historic to be honest first class and international cricket was still being played at the TCA ground, till the mid eighties it’s only really been since then that cricket has a history at Bellerive , Clarence cricket club has already moved out and play and train at kangaroo bay it’s only really the Clarence football club that has a strong connection to the place and would be put out if it closedYep, the plan is for a new training facility near the airport. Tricky stadium project may need another vote if costs blow out
A stadium on Hobart's waterfront has gained enough support to pass parliament, after key independents declared on Wednesday they would support the contentious project.www.abc.net.au

Ha cop that "high court pls!" NIMBYs.Not that it would if been an issue but Roland Browne has essentially ruled out any legal challenges.
"We will be bringing to the public's attention every issue to do with the increasing cost.
"This is a political process now and a public process we don't see there's avenues for court processes, but we see lots of other avenues for community involvement."
and by doing that making a Fool of HimselfSounds like Cassy O'Connor has been making quite a nuisance of herself in the debate

Things are getting a bit silly in the Legislative Council as the debate shows no sign of stopping.
Greens MLC Cassy O'Connor: "I note the presence in the chamber of a large blow fly, probably brought in here by the smell of this order."
Independent Bec Thomas is back and asking questions — and is not happy with some comments made by Greens MLC Cassy O'Connor.
Ms Thomas' decision to support the stadium yesterday was crucial for the government.
She was absent from the chamber for a period — along with several other members — prompting some pointed remarks by Ms O'Connor about whether they were providing enough scrutiny.
Ms Thomas was unhappy with these comments.
"I refute and am somewhat offended by the assertions made by the member for Hobart earlier, and imputations made about me and other honourable members in taking a break from the chamber," she said.
"I thoroughly scrutinised the order and asked questions at the draft stage, and achieved some changes to the final order based on the questions I asked and feedback I provided."
Is there any chance the vote won’t happen tonight? Cassy O’Connor seems hellbent on delaying this vote.
