I think it's just the surface and drop in quality of the bowling alongside the fact that Root hasn't gone cheap this time round.

The only difference in the game is the dots Root has faced, IMO.
And Stokes, and Jacks. Crawley got away but definitely respected more balls than he usually does. Duckett and Pope getting out cheaply probably helps.

Really it feels like only Brook is the only batsman who has gotten in who has stuck to the ethos. This looks like a more mature version, which is a good thing and the growth many have questioned it was capable of. The pitch is trickier than I initially gave credit for and the bowling, despite some surface level analysis on here, has by and large been tight with a conservative field. I think a full blown old school bazball would've been long gone for cheap by now.

Less Dean Cox and more Coen Livingstone for Cam.

Harsh.

In that test, there were three tons and two 150's to Ashwell Prince, Jacques Kallis and AB De Villiers. They went after him, and all three are notable players of spin.

He was treated the way an awful lot of spinners were treated post Warne: trialed in inclement conditions then discarded as 'not Warne' immediately afterwards.
