Too scared to bat a few overs so we're gonna slow the game down spread the field and run our only premier bowler into the ground and let them put on another 60 runs

Whats the average first innings score in test matches at the Gabba. I'd imagine England will still be well under that. What run figure would you put on not having to bat for 30 minutes under lights?

Not creepy at allHell, Hayden just tweeted and said the nudie run is still on.
That’s Grace though, not Matthew.
TBH, I'd rather her commentating than Haydos. Couldn't be worse, could she?Hell, Hayden just tweeted and said the nudie run is still on.

This pitch is becoming easier to bat on, which is strange on the first day of a day/night test. Leaving all the fielders out on boundary doesn’t seem like a great plan for the last wicket either.
It's never as good or as bad as the folk on here make it out to beAn utter classic day of Ashes Test cricket.
It’s ebbed & flowed.
As it should always do.
* 265It'd be funny if England get to 350 now. Well played Root and Starc. 4 ducks in a score of more than 300. You'd rather bowl England out for 280 and have an awkward 20 minutes or so of batting than risk them getting 350+.
One day Starc won't get a million wickets and we'll be in real strife.
Yes, happened under Paine, Cummins, Smith, Langer, McDonald. These blokes are paid 100's of thousand of dollars not to see things that us mugs on the couch can see as obvious. Frustrating day, poor captaincy, poor bowling, bar Starc, poor team selection. Whatever could be poor, bar Starc, was poor. Now a 61 run 10th wicket partnership when we could've had them out for 270. Having the field out for Archer, watching balls fall into places 50m from the fielder because they were all on the fence.I think it’s more than a captaincy thing because this has happened for years, and I’ve seen other countries do it too.
Clearly someone in the coaching or analytics thinks that buying tail wickets is better than bowling the same way you got the previous 7-9 wickets. Beats me.
Hopefully Cummins and Hazlewood will be back then. One day Starc won't get a million wickets and we'll be in real strife.
Hard to disagree. That last wicket partnership has put them there.Ponting thinks England's ahead too, funny that.

Edgbaston where stokes won it and we dropped a catch missed a run out and burnt all our reviews so didn't have one when he was plumb lbwThat would have to be close to the worst closing half hour of a day of all time in the field wouldn't it.
