Hun has a piece on Marshall (flogging the Pixar Putt at Marvel).

Main points:
  • Wants success, hence request to go to Geelong
  • Would love that success to come at St Kilda
  • Lot of the trade period stories were rubbish: "I got my hair cut down there [Geelong] once, before we played Geelong and I had a couple hours to kill and I was watching my brother play for Newcomb."
  • Won't miss the bounce
  • Impressed by TDK, how they'll work together is still TBD, went QT on whether TDK is a VIP, but doesn't want either of them to go MIA or Ross might just put him on KP
  • Some blather about golf to work in the puff angle.

Honestly Marshall is one of my favourites, would have been absolutely gutted if he left... especially to Geelong.

Huge kudos to the club.

Absolute nothing article. Dont even know what Nail was trying to say?
Its a VERY strange article. Including the salary cap as if it was optional spending in calculations on how much the club spends vs handouts is disingenuous at best.

Like, I just don't understand why it even exists. The club is paying down the debt at a pretty good rate and the latest news is basically just refinancing that debt with the AFL being a guarantor to it which is.. completely normal accounting practices?

We've ruffled a lot of feathers lately so I wouldn't put it past someone in Nine Media having a grudge somewhere.

Jake Niall always goes on about our debt for some reason, miserable old campaigner

I would have lost fewer brain cells from polishing off a pint of mercury mixed with bleach than reading that poor excuse of an article. The media will continue to paint us with the "same old St Kilda" brush, even though we are doing a lot right internally.

At the end of the day, the only way we change the mindset of the entire league, is by winning games of football. I am sure if we start slowly the narrative will firmly be placed on the recruits and the money we have paid them.

I wasnt aware of any of his writings but yeah just seems petty.

To me he was trying to say our debt was related to what we were paying players and that if we hadn't paid NAS and TDK that money could have been used to pay down debt. Makes no sense at all.
Its absurd isn't it. Also one of the indictments on AFL media in general. Half of what gets written about in the AFL world would be libel if it was written in any other sort of industry.

It's easy article to write every couple of years. Like the politicians gouging the tax payer on their expenses it's a nothing story that gets traction. The pollies all do it and the journos pull it out to rage-bait every couple of years.
