It came into my mind yesterday when Travis Head lopped one to midwicket. It was either a great shot to the boundary or a terrible one straight down a fielder's throat, but it wasn't until the camera moved as the ball landed before you knew that there was no fielder in sight.

Teams regularly move fielders around, particularly in short form cricket like BBL, but you don't get a picture of what's actually happening until the ball is already heading in that particular direction. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to implement with GPS tracking and a small corner of the screen.
They definitely have the ability since the fielding placements including players moving are shown sometimes on the screen.

I guess it’s just about 1 broadcaster putting it as a permanent feature and seeing the viewer feedback. If it’s positive then I can see other doing the same

Perhaps a dumb idea, but has a cricket broadcaster ever experimented with a field placement type of graphic that you see in the corner in computer games like Cricket 26? I think it's the main element of cricket missing when you're watching on TV rather than live at the venue.

I swear I've seen Fox use this graphic at times

It's used sporadically but never shown the full time. ICC broadcasts like the T20 world cups seem to use it a lot more frequently. This is the product: https://www.quidich.com/services/quidich-tracker-qt

As it was in Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2005 on the PS2, the field placement (with live ball tracking) should be on a permanent transparent overlay on all broadcasts.

I spent the afternoon watching games on Fox showcasing pretty much the whole variety of scorebugs and I think we can do better.
I'd like to see the total score become more prominent again, it really is the most important aspect of the scorebug. Absolutely still keep the goals and behinds but put them in a place where they can be alternated with stats when needed.

With the ABC getting VFL rights I wonder what type of scorebug they’ll have. I hope they have their own and not the AFL live stream
I hope they do as well. The ABC News graphics are quite clean, I'd love to see them riff off that. I had my own go at what that could look like. ABC Sport actually use two tone green, but for a Victorian comp I much preferred the blue they use for their news.

For some variety I'd like to see the Vic railway station codes used...;)
