I just don't understand it unless the Bills already know who they want.

It's been their weakest team in recent years and they still won a road playoff game and then took the number 1 seed to OT.
Been a power struggle between Beane and McD for a number of years. McD fired and Beane promoted shows that.

Probably should have done it last year though when Ben Johnson and Liam Coen were available.
Exactly this. This is one of the few jobs Johnson might have preferred to the Bears. I don't mind moving on from McDermott, but the timing isn't great. John Harbaugh was an obvious choice to take over instead and now he's out of the running.

Although, there is one other option out there...

Both came over from Carolina at the same time together didnt they?

He shouldn't have an issue getting another job. Just a matter if he wants a year off. He's a good floor raiser and man manager. Would be good for a team like the Raiders or Titans. Eagles should fire Sirianni and replace him with McDermott too.

I doubt they would have gone Harbaugh, he'd have just been more of the same

I think the bills job opening is going to severely stuff up all the remaining HC vacancies.

It will be the most coveted job, HC aspirants, especially the ones in the remaining 4 teams will have no problem waiting until after 8th of Feb to sit with the bills first before considering other openings.

Na I doubt that. People will still take jobs that are offered to them, if everyone waits around with their thumb up their bum for the Bills job youre going to have coaches miss out all together

Harbaugh probably regrets not waiting a few more days now. McDermott should be be targeted by the Titans now. I think he is a good coach who just struggles to get over the hump.

Bills have tried things like changing OC and new players just couldn't get there.

Stupid move. Clean house while opening the new stadium. Cant keep a lame duck GM.

He must have some dirt on someone like Balke did to last this long with such a poorly done job

The ones in the final 4 teams won't bother interviewing for other jobs until they have interviewed for the bills job.

It is extremely rare to get an opening where you have a QB with the talent of Josh Allen available.

Pathetic choking hack. :P ... if you were offered the Ravens job would you pass that up for a chance at the Bills job? I highly doubt it.

Yea that was a bad performance. I still would take Allen though.

I think an elite OC can probably help him clean up few minor things , especially when he tries to do a lot and ends up costing the team.

Also I think his poor wide receiving corps is making him have to take unnecessary risks to get the ball to them.

I still trust allen's grit and fightback in pressure situations than I trust Lamar's mindset in pressure situations.

No one is saying who would you rather (I agree its Allen) , im saying would you pass up on the Ravens job that is yours if you want it for just an opportunity to be hired by the Bills? No ****ing way for me.

Allen needs to do some of his own recruiting, start reaching out to good wide receivers and point blank ask hey I need you, let's go win this thing together come to the Bills we could be great.

I totally get the McDermott firing - it feels like he's taken them as far as he's able to, time for someone else to come in and get them that extra step or two.

It's a great job for whoever lands it.
