Training Saints preseason 2026

Hopefully not too long term. Has shown some great flashes but he really needs a good run at it this year otherwise he looks unlikely to be in the system much longer.
Seems to have done enough work over the pre- season, so should be fit enough on resuming.
Better that he has done it now in a way?
Hopefully its not a 6 weeker, by the way he walked off, might only be minor please.

Considering his recent history it's really not good. As you say, just pray it's a minor one and he's back on deck soon. He really can't afford setbacks.

Any Wilson sightings?
He's there but you can never quite get a good look at him.

He was already not clearly best 22.

They had no list spots left because of another unexpected bid. Seemed to think he'd just slide to the rookie draft. They dealt with the situation really poorly, could have easily had the spots by moving other players to their extra rookie spots.

Just a bit of a gamble. We by-passed a lot of our academy kids last year. Lenny Hoffman was getting heaps of similar praise before injury last year.

Far out, some nice stuff in there. Ryan looks like he'll be a beauty. Pou a midfield lock. Couldn't ask for more from the recruits really, all four looking good.

If JSOS and an improved Hammer can unlock Wilkie then that could be absolutely key.

Good to see King clearly on the improve too.

Everyone was training hard today. Boris Enright (pictured earlier), was not watching the game but working overtime on the magnetic board as coaches relayed messages to him.
At qtr time changed up the midfield with Hall and Pou going black. Heard Ross saying to him, ' those changes seemed to have worked". What ever they saw was a problem, was worked on and resolved by Boris.
This operation is slick, training, as you say down to the second, the players are working as hard as I have seen them, the coaches are also practising their in game craft.
Not mentioned. 3.09 of the 4th qtr left, RTB stops the sim and makes all players get into threes and do the jump over roll drill until the players were knackered. I thought the match sim was high quality, obviously Ross thought something was up ans stopped it.
After the drill the whole group ran laps and didn't finish the match sim.
Not mucking about this season.

I remember going out to watch us train at Seaford and the unprofessional standards and lack of coaches to players was so bad it made me depressed about our future. No-one was across anything. Hammil and another coach were standing around looking at shit on phones and having a laugh while the players half arsed went through the motions. Peta Searle was the only one who looked engaged.

It's heart warming to hear the off field stuff has progressed so far. Without it you are never going anywhere.

Everyone knows instead of NAS, Pou and JSOS we should have taken Sinn, Tsatas and Aleer. Just imagine that. Actually, on second thought don’t imagine it, it gets pretty ugly.

10 years ago we would have.

Thanks for all the reports guys!

How is Toby looking? Should really stand out with his bleached blonde hair, but never seem to hear much about him. I am hoping he can find a niche as a lockdown small defender taking over from Webster as he has all the tools. Don't know how the club sees him as a midfielder, how would he ever start in a centre bounce over NAS, Flanders, windy, macrae, Garcia, boxshall, phillipou, hall, Sinclair, Wilson etc

Was a nice beach in Seaford at one time
Well, except for the plagues of jellyfish
Many a fish & chips had down there during my childhood.
But how they ever moved there HQ there is beyond belief.
Wonder who is benefiting now though?, from the decent facilities left there.
Do the Saints still own it & lease it out?

Wow the skills and ball movement were sublime.

I have to admit I was wrong re Liam Ryan he looks fit and completely committed to the club. Plus it seems the boys absolutely love him becoming a popular member early days. I thought he would struggle out of WA and obviously went far too early without giving him the opportunity, which it seems he is a hit already.

Hopefully Henry's injury is not too severe, as with him Hall and Ryan delivering into our F50 and around goals we will look really dangerous.

Travaglia had a rough day today. One really bad turnover where he came over to help in the back pocket and he was sorts given a hospital ball and handballed straight to Higgins trying not to get pinned who snapped a goal

And the other was streaming down the wing and kicked it straight to a half back uncontested.

But he wasn’t in isolation. More prominent players didn’t have great days. Hoping that’s because strength of list. But Wilson Garcia Carroll all quiet aswell.

How about Dow? Did he play? Which of the young blokes like likely to improve this year?
Dow needs to pull his finger out. He is being passed left right and centre. He can play but has Billings vibes about him. Seems as vanilla as with no real stand out strength.
Just cant play like he is and expect a seniors gig.
Depth only and if he doesn't click will be delisted at year end.

Wilson is a wee bit of a worry, hope he's not just a running track star.
Reckon he's definately a HFF.
Doesn't seem to get as involved on a wing?

Played alot of vfl games with the Blues
Another one who hasn't lived up to his no.3 pick billing/s?

Welcome aboard the Ryan choo choo wagon!

With regards to Henry the silver lining is that it's not structural damage. Just two weeks! :drunk:

Very true, and I remember a few Cats fans asking about Hoffman and feeling pretty chuffed.

The only thing I'd say is Banfield is the son of a West Coast legend, just seems a strange one to pass on especially considering how bad they've been. But yeah we've seen kids looking amazing in their first pre-season and it hasn't counted for shit.

Must say though when I got down to training once he really impressed me. Will be one to watch in the VFL early.

From the first training session under Ross 2.0 the intensity and professionalism has made a quantum leap.
The assistants we have seem to be first class, never seen Enright smile, he is intense and wants the club to have Geelong standards when he inevitably takes the reigns.
The magnet moving was something I haven't seen before, every drill has been planned out, the stats people number four or five all working throughout training, rehab is so well planned, and the players, while enjoying themselves and lots of laughs, are serious in drills and the talk and vocalisation is louder and more diverse than I have ever heard. Confidence all round, non 'leaders' like Stocker and Macrae, setting up and talking up strategy in drills.
In match sim Ross tells Keeler and Armstrong that their setup pushing forward from the back, their positioning is good but need to talk to each other more. Real positive coaching. Next play, Armstrong is strongly yelling to Keels positioning himself anc Keels properly. The confidence to speak up shows the culture of this current group that everyone has a voice and dont be afraid to speak up.

Like NAZ, when the fatigue kicked in, he was more prominate.
He will win games for us with his huge tank and speed.
