Outbreak 1995

IMDB 7/10
Grade B+

May be the first time I disliked Freeman and FFS kate. You had one job.

The movie wasnt just another viral movie but lacked polish despite the star studded cast.

The Wrecking Crew - Prime

Jason Mamoa and Dave Bautista are half brothers who come together to avenge the death of their father

Its not great. Very superficial and a simple plot where we all know what will happen - but the journey is full of action and comedy .

Again its a Saturday night actioner where the brain is switched off
Was hoping this was going to be a biopic about the musicians. Then I read Momoa and Bautista and my heart sank.

Barbie Dolphin Magic (2017)

It's good to see the Ken has canonically been a bumbling plot device for at least a decade.

This has a refreshing take on the "angry and ostensibly bad person met in act one turns out to be the good guy" trope by indeed making the angry and ostensibly bad person from act one the antagonist.

I'm raising living room kids and have no control over the TV in this house.

Moneyball 2012 Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jonah Hill, Chris Pratt

IMDB: 7/10
Grade: B

I'm not usually a fan of these sort of movies but it's done well and in an interesting way without being utterly predictable like every other sports movie. Pitt and Hill are relatively solid with Hill being one of the most strange characters I've seen devoid of any personality.

Wrath of Man - not a movie I’d normally watch. Ritchie/Statham is a tad boring. Anyway gave it a go. And yep was same rubbish. Convoluted plot, cardboard characters. 2/10

The range of Statham is something else. From sad to happy to serious to charming ..all these faces

Good movie. I didn't enjoy it the first time. The 2nd,3rd and 4th times I did.

This one generally gets ranked right up there as one of Pitt’s very best performances, I agree with that assessment so “relatively solid” is a tough beat.

Mr. Jimmy

Documentary on Japanese guitarist Akio Sakurai who has dedicated his whole life to imitating Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin.

Interesting study in obsession & dedication.

Being a Led Zeppelin fan helps he is actually touring Australia in April with Jason Bonham the original Led Zeppelin drummers son.

Had tickets to see Jason last time he was here but it got cancelled. Not sure any reason was given. Also had tickets to see Dweezil Zappa do Hot Rats which got cancelled because covid.

Tickets went on sale last week for the April shows.

Saw them last time in 2023 this guy does an incredible job can’t imagine anyone being better at replicating Jimmy Page’s look & more importantly his playing.

What do you mean?

I'm not overly into true story drama type movies so for me this was a good watch but was always going to be hard to slot into the (A) category. I thought the movie was as good as it could be in terms of the sort of movies I like. It bordered between B and B+

'Send Help' - a brilliant survival thriller with Rachel McAdams in the lead role. I didn't have high expectations going in, but was amazed at how good it was, easily on of the best films I have seen in the 2020s. 10/10.

One really good thing about the film was a flashback to one of Rachel's previous roles. The characters are discussing karaoke, and Linda (Rachel's character) says that her favorite karaoke song is 'One Way or Another' by Blondie. This same song was played over a montage of scenes in 'Mean Girls' back in 2004, when Cady, Janice and Damien try to expose what Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams) was getting up to.

This isn't the first time that previous roles have been subtly referenced in a Rachel McAdams movie. In 2005's 'Red Eye' her character Lisa is returning from her late grandmother's funeral and says that the elderly lady had a gentleman friend in her final years named Duke. Also in Red Eye Lisa's father has a photo of his daughter as a teenager in his study, Lisa wearing a cheerleading outfit. In The Notebook in which Rachel played the young Allie her older self now afflicted by dementia is read to her by her husband Noah who uses the name Duke so as not to confuse the elderly lady, while the pictures of Rachel as a cheerleader were stills of her portraying Regina in Mean Girls.

You said Pitt and Hill were solid.

Pitts performance in Moneyball is widely regarded as one of his absolute best.

For someone who watches a lot of movies you have ALOT of types and genres you don’t like.

Was going to see this today but late cancellation from sick kids.

I think McAdams is one of the most versatile and under rated actors of my generation. She’s had very few movies miss and even the handful that have her performances have usually been the highlight anyway. I also quite like O’Brien not that he’s done that much.

Glad to hear it’s a good one

When did I say I didn't like it? I preference Sci Fi, and psychological thrillers. So ordinarily I'm less interested in other genres. That doesn't mean I don't like them, just that I find those movies harder to get into. For me the heist and crime movies that I really like are sparse for that reason.

It's a great movie, I hope you enjoy it. I agree about Rachel McAdams, she is a great actress and very versatile.
