So what is our likely best XI?

1 Head
2 Marsh
3 Green
4 Inglis
5 Renshaw
6 Connolly
7 David
8 Bartlett
9 Zampa
10 Hazelwood
11 Kuhnemann

Sub-continent - need to spin to win, so need 2 specialist spinners.

Bartlett over Ellis & Dwarshus
Green over Stoinis
Connolly over Maxwell who hasn't been in great form

Why is Abbott playing ahead of Dwarshus, as he isn't even in our T20 squad?

Surely we should be prioritising squad players, particularly those on the fringe.

The answer to all of the above is because we genuinely dont seem to take international T20 cricket very seriously.

Id rather we pick squads full of younger players to get them into the into the international fold and on big tours.

Of course we wont do that, but we should.

I doubt we will even make the semi finals.

I think Australia can blunder through to the Super 8 with minimal issues.

But by my reading they'll run into a group with India, NZ/South Africa, England/West Indies. Which will be a problem.

The only potential plus is that the Super 8 will be entirely in India. Which will probably be benign flat IPL pitches.

I made this judgement because, even though any of the other teams (even the associates) would be capable of dismissing Australia's batting line up cheaply on a spinning wicket, I didn't think they would have the class to deal with Zampa's bowling in the same conditions.

Now Zampa seems to be injured...

Zampa is injured?

Cricinfo said:
Cricket Australia confirmed that he had felt some "tightness in his groin while fielding" and that not batting was "completely precautionary"
Cricinfo claims it was just a precaution. I'll believe it when he lines up in the first WC match on the 11th.

Get the Pontiff on the plane.
There are worse ideas.

Geez we played more batsman, with Connolly batting #8 & still couldn't make 100.

Need to have a serious rethink of our batting for subcontinent conditions.

Marsh's press conference was pure delusion living off past performances which are completely irrelevant. Should he even be captain?

He probably shouldnt be, but since that side is chopped and changed so much and he's really the only mainstay, then he probably has to be.

Our selection policy is all over the place in T20 cricket.

I would give the captaincy to Head.

Smith needs to be in the side. Can build a side around him, opening with Head.

Marsh can return to #3.
Green #4.
Inglis #5.
