Depends what said experience is offering I guess. In Elliott and Membrey you have experience that offers shots on goal or goal assists at a minimum. In Dan’s case I just don’t think he’s offering much of either.

Dumping Dan is a very poor precedent to set for team stability or cohesion of our forward mix.
West has plenty of time to make his case for selection - at present it’s speculative at best IMO.

They won't drop Dan. He needs a rocket though. Doesn't lead and doesn't present up the line. As I said, can't wait for McCarthy and West to develop

We have a new fwd mix that will take time to gel - making changes after ONE game is a bad idea for the reasons I’ve already outlined.
I could name half a dozen players that didn’t pull their weight, are you suggesting we should dump them all?

I didn't see half a dozen players who weren't pulling their weight.
Can you name them?
As far as I can recall, Dan didn't play all that well last year, so not as if it's just one game.
I just don't see any desperation coming from him.

I’m up for the speculative option over what for me has become pretty predictable regarding Dan.

Agree, Jamie seemed out of sorts, Ed is an enigma, the others might not have had their best games but they were still giving 100%.

I understand that he's never been a genuine key forward but he doesn't lead or present up the line. That's the bare minimum for a limited key forward.

Sure, he can play wing. But he’s one of our main chess pieces as far as our game plan is concerned. We’ve trained and planned for a certain gamestyle and you don’t go and mess with that so you can play Parker instead of Allan.

Yeah, I think Checkers was a big loss to our forward structure. Not saying we can’t win without him but he was pure work Horse. Took some heat off of Eliott too. Also our most consistent forward since we recruited him. We’ll just have to find a way to adapt without him.

I thought that Long was ok, not great buf had some good moments. That handpass to Steele was absolutely elite. IMHO

We trained all summer with Pendles in a defender-mid role. Didn’t take the coaches long to mess with that.

He has also not had much continuity. I’m sure the will rectify it, the forward line and particularly the talls didn’t really function very well as a unit. This could also be partly due to Ross Lyon though.

IQ, has played his best football when allowed to roam around free. I don't think he's ever been a good lock down defender. He's our intercepter. Why move him to a role he's not that good at. They won't drop Parker, they rate him too highly now

IQ is great at shutting down his opponent then intercepting. He’s not one or other.

If as you say Buller “needs time” - then I have no idea why you want to drop him.

It’s logical that if you have 3 options up front in Buller, West and Steene… that are all only marginally different in ability… then, form dictates who gets selected.

West or Steene might come in and do more immediately and they have been part of the pies forward system for longer than Buller

Dan is just a player whose best and worst are far apart -- some games he looks like a proper no 1 key forward, others he looks like a lost flanker. But no regular should be dropped after one average performance. After a month, maybe then you see.
