Was good to see Sharman find some form again.

Just put Hall in the middle 70/30

I'm liking Viking up forward.

Pou needs to drop a couple kgs and get his mobility back.

Flanders is building

Missed a senior experienced midfielder in the last.

Carroll out and Hastie in
yes to every point

Let’s not forget we just played against a Brisbane side that’s won the last two premierships and had five players in the All-Australian under 22 team. We only had 1 player, Nas.

They have so much elite young talent it’s ridiculous.

Disappointing result but there was plenty to like. We stuck with the premiers for 3 and a bit quarters. Thats a huge improvement from being down by 6 goals at half time last year. Our lack of midfield class and depth showed in the end.

JSOS was worth every cent. He has filled that Battle role that we lacked last year and free'd Wilkie up to take his game to another level. Howard did well for his first game back.

Pity Sharman got injured because it seemed like he finally found his form again before going off. It all seems like confidence with him. Owens was typical Owens. Higgins better this week. Butler added something and justified his inclusion. Ryan is a star and also worth whatever we paid for him.

Nas needs help in the middle. I'd like to see Windy moved to into there permanently again and then maybe bring in Hastie to half back after his VFL performance. Flanders was better again this week - I think he will continue to impact more as he learns his role in this side. He had less disposals then a few weeks ago but they felt more impactful.

Tauru is exciting but I'm not sure how long we can carry a 50% game time and 3 disposal players. I dont want to drop him but just something to watch as the season goes on. We need to grow his game time and I dont see any reason why he needs to be playing that little.

Bring on Port.

Drawing a long bow to suggest that 60% tog isn’t on Pou at all
He played 75% in round 0

43% at half time in round 1 indicates he was on track for 86%

57% last week post corkie. 60%.

So no. It isn’t on him in the sense he is playing poorly.

We got an audit that we’re just not there yet particularly when games are in the clinch and we need weight of numbers that can use the ball effectively.

Good to see Sharman back to better football, thought Windy really got going in the third, probably JSOS best game for us, Garcia had selfless game shutting down Neale, and Tauru showing glimpses what he could be.

I reckon Joey close to the mark before season started in terms of needing greater top end depth, really need to accumulate some more elite talent from Wilson, Pou, Windy, etc to join Nas, Hall, Sinclair, and Wilkie.

Thought what also hurt us was lack of spread of goal scorers. Our forward line actually held up okay with Sharman 3, Ryan 3, Higgins 2.2, Owens 2.2 and Tauru 1.1 with no other goal scorers, then you compare to Lions with Bailey 2, McCarthy 1.2, Berry 1, Fletcher 1, Coleman 1, Ashcroft 1 all chipping in, as well as multiple goal scorers from Rayner, Cameron, Lohmann, Allen, Morris.

Agreed…. But.

Might be just me but Nas needs to start being a lot smarter.

If teams want to sit on him. Sitting in the goal square is useless.

GO. TO. HALF. BACK.

you literally can’t be tagged there as you are coming from behind the ball. You are constantly in flight.

It then forces midfields to collapse on his movement and then you gift time and space to Pou and Flanders and Garcia etc

Pretty spot on with your post however not sure what Butler added apart from lack of pressure & defence, had little impact with 9 d's, 2 tackles & 8 pressure acts. Not suprised after his VFL game with similar low impact. Hope he shows up against Port.

Agree we just gotta keep playing Taru, he'll gain consistency with more experience and if we don't he'll be tempted by Tassie. Solid kicking technique

It’s on him that he can’t cover the ground, win a clearance or stop handballing over his head to the opposition

Agreed. I dont mind it for a few minutes instead of going to the bench but if it's for longer periods, it's such a waste to have him that far off the ball.

I liked him going to take some kick outs today which helped shake the tag a bit.

What an idiot.

All of us know not to be a homophobe even on the cans
But no doubt he will still have some supporters on here that think he needs another chance,
I could say a lot more but I better be nice or I'm copping a ban

I thought there were a couple of passages where his speed was a welcome addition and something we had lacked the first few weeks. He wasn't notable but I just thought it was a good selection and he did enough his spot.

I wouldn't worry about Tauru and Tassie. The kids family is too involved for him to move away and have them fly interstate every week.

Also. Am I the only one that is querying the reason they didn’t allow Wood’s goal after the Tauru mark?!

Like wtf?
horrendous decision that fundamentally alters the game. Let's see [insert ex AFL legend commentator name here*] stand up for the game.

*Brown
  • Lewis (stretch)
  • Riewoldt

An absolute f*ing disgrace.

Nope. Not you're not the only one

The umpire had just blown the whistle for time off and said to stop play for an injured player.

Very unlucky timing for us, but not hard to grasp

Pou needs a spell in the VFL. Staggering how much he has regressed since his first year.

He is so slow and timid it's frightening. He has no weapons to his game at all.

I wonder if he is homesick and is not fitting in at the club.
Hardly played last year due to lnjury
I'd like to think its more about him getting up to speed again.
A long time out, let him find his feet & confidence in his body again.
4 games in & the knives are out already, geezuz.

The worry is that there has been no improvement in our players so far, particularly the young crew.

Who can you honestly say has improved as a player this season?
Garcia without any hesitation. I also think Wilson has improved his consistency from last year.
Carroll has improved - he might not be a star but he's doing a solid job in the half back role and that's more then he was doing last year
