I still don't think he will be as good and Joel Selwood, Scott Pendlebury, Nathan Jones or even Travis Boak from this years rising stars.

Selwood will be his only contender over the coming years.

Chuck the other three away...they will not get near him over the next few years. They just don't have what he has, while he has got everything they have got.

Selwood >>>>Jones>>>>Pendlebury>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Smith

If that is a graphic of how a left to right of screen 100m footrace between the four would end up - I agree.

Otherwise - you are so wrong it should hurt

Haha, oh dear.

Pendlebury played more games, had more kicks, disposals, marks, goals, tackles and hit-outs.

Plus he is 1 year, 3 months younger than Smith.

I would have it

Pendlebury>Smith>Selwood>Jones>Hurn

I think Selwood is being givena ride by the brilliant midfield he is in.

Jones is a gun extractor with little upside. Won't show a complete game.

Smith is a tall midfielder. These types are rare and he is the complete package. Same with Pendlebury but I think he has more scope to improve given his background. Pendles is also more offensively gifted.

Murphy over all though.

Did he sit out a year with a smashed up ankle as well?

Taller, stronger, faster, far more courageous, tougher, better kick.

Smith dwarf him.

Spot on although Hurn >>> Jones

I presume you meant better than all but three in the '04 draft - where he was first taken. Franklin, Deledio, Griffen have done nothing to suggest they won't stay ahead of him, while Lewis and Cloke have proved themselves as good as you could hope for at this stage of their careers. Give him another good year and he'll slot into that group comfortably.

I stoped readin after that comment, Selwood is a ball winner, clearance player and great tackler.

Selwood > all on your list.

He can be, and I think is, all those things. I don't see how my initial comment precludes what you say...

exactly what i was going to say. of the 04 players i would rate jorden lewis as probably the best performed of the last three years, he is an integral member of a very good midfield. Of the other Hawthorn players framklin is ahead of Smith and i would also put Roughhead in front (40 goals in a seaon not bad for third year player). Smith would be top ten but i would have to see a complete list as to where he rates in the 04 crop

Smith definately has all the weapons.
However, I can't recall him spending most of his game time in the middle which Pendlebury does. In saying that he has bucket loads of talent and I'm sure he will move into a full time midfield and really start tearing it up :thumbsu:

Pendles began playing TAC Cup at the age of 17 (walking straight in after leaving a Basketball scholarship at the AIS) and then got drafted.

He missed his first pre-season with glandular fever, but still played 9 games.

Pendles is taller by 1cm. The others are debatable, but since your previous posts make no sense, it's no point talking to you about it.:)

A future in Queensland and a dole cheque to make ends meet?

He's no Bryce Gibbs or Marc Murphy who will be better than all of those players.
