Embley to Carlton rumour gaining momentum

Was on this mornings 3AW Rumour File that Embley is desperatley trying to come to Carlton, despite being contracted (which is why I beleive we won't get him) he is prepared to take WC to court over restraint of trade.

WCE apparantly shopped him around for a first round pick during trade week.

The Rumour File does have a decent success rate with its rumours ...

but in any event, should the unlikely even of Embley managing to free himself of WCE ... he'll end up at Punt Road, so I wouldnt hold my breath.

I find it very hard to believe that we'll be able to get people of the calibre of Rutten and Fraser into the draft. But having said that, I would never had thought we'd entice Judd either.

Yeah, that must be why there are none of the great players who you normally see going into the PSD. I mean the number one pick usually gains you a player the quality of Acland (07), McLaren (06), Knobel (05), Jade Rawlings (04), Powell (03), and not even used in 02.

And yet you believe that Embley is seriously considering the PSD, where he knows the Tigers would take him. So you're saying Embley is seriously considering going to Richmond. In fact you're saying that he may even take the AFL to court so as he can play at Richmond.

I'm hearing the same thing!!! Though something bout a full back, cough, BR, cough???? But as time goes on, richmond arn't any closer to deciding on their pick, so they can still trump any player we want to sign.

Lets all hope a Fraser or someone enters the draft, need to take richmonds focus away from what we are doin!! Because any player of worth is re-signing at the fact they might end up at the tigers! Surely the money they thought would cover Judd, could be used to lure SOMEONE!

I'm gettin the feeling that Richmond would perfer to make sure that they "Keep Carlton honest" and use our ability to draw players, just so they can try and land a punch on us, rather than taking a good hard look at what THEY need to become a better football club.

No player will opt for the draft whilst they know they will go to the Tigers! We will wait to announce who we want to take, until such time as Richmond have announced who they have commited to! Sounds sly i know, but the facts are that if you can't commit to a player prior to the draft, anything of value will have re-signed to their club, to avoid Richmond. In the intrests of both clubs movin forward....just hurry up and spend your money!!!

Embers isnt going anywhere, one of the guys on eaglesflyinghigh.com talked to rayne (his misses) and they are very happy and settled in perth and arent going anywhere- just bought more property too.
Other eagles players? hmmmm who next? how about Kerr you can have him

That is not sly at all - that is how it works. Bottom teams go out into the market and see if they can extract someone of quality. Quality players dont just leave for the sake of it so they pick someone they want to go to.

Carlton waiting to announce whoever it is isnt sly its just good management and how this works.

Only problem is it relies on Richmond being able to grab someone....

Yeah I agree, I'm not one of these carlton fans who think we're a snowballs chance in hell. If he's contracted, he is contracted, and anything else is just rubbish. I left that off my earlier email.

But if these rumours are right, and there is some talk of smokescreen, my point was - WTF do you need a smokescreen? Or is it just scurrilous rumour?

How does picking up duds with PSD pick # 1 equate to no one wanting to nominate for the PSD because they would rather die than play for the club with the #1 pick?!?!
