Very true. Unlike Adelaide, who gave up pick #7 for him, we got him for nothing on the rookie list. In fairness to the Crows he was unamimously regarded as a top 10 pick that year and they were unaware of his behavioural problems.

I still think we made the right decision to get him on the slim chance he could have turned into a star.

I'll never forget his first game against Melbourne at Princes Park when he took an unbelievable two grab mark at the Social Club end and then slotted the goal. For a guy that was 200cm tall he was incredibly athletic.

One story i found quite amusing about his time at the Crows was when he turned up to a club function that included partners as well. Obviously faring quite well with the local Adelaide females young Laurence decides to rock up with not just one but two dates....one on each arm! If only he showed that form on the field!
