Under 16's of 07' in 08' draft

He was only 16 this year and probably wouldn't have see any TAC action anyway. Missed the champs with stress fractures and probably the rest of the season as a guess.

I have seen him in a trial game for Vic Country Vs Metro at Victoria Park prior to his enforced rest. He played a game for Country A vs Metro B and had a blinder for me. The selectors had seen enough to reward him with an AIS selection. Would like to have seen him at the carnival but I reckon he's got what it takes, moves well, can mark, good presence, takes good options, yeah good enough for me.

Yeah look i have seen johnny play club footy rep footy and state . he's the goods . Probably not as a ruckman just yet needs some ruck coaching but is a good forward. He leads well into the right spots can kick goals and is prewtty good on the move for his size . The academy selectors know him and all like him he'll be good enough but needs a lot of work to get his body strong .Probably better than Hill and Fitzpatrick at this stage in terms of talent but needs a good year this year to take the question marks away .

Is he good enough??? similar to Watts in that has been injured alot throughout the year, not playing championships or TAC so is he up to the grade?? Has he played any good football yet?

I have played footy against both Jack Watts and John Butcher and Butch is head and shoulders above jack watts........literally and talent wise. Im very suprised he has not been offered a scholarship to an APS school. He plays Maffra firsts and Gippsland Power U/18's already very very good player.

Obviously some of these Under 16's of 2007 were in Darwin for the Under 15 carnival in 2006. Going through an old programme that I kept I see Ziebell, Sidebottom, Hooper, Scully and maybe some others but the only one that stood out from that carnival was Andrew Hooper.

Joseph Black from warragul, pretty tall, anout 6'3'' already wing sort of player very quick and mature for a young kid, hes only 16 at the moment turns 17 next year i'm pretty and should play under 18 power this season if his pre season form continues.

not the right age but i couldnt see a similar thread about the under 17s anywhere!!!

Whilst Hoops is still a very good player he had a very developed body in the 15's, and as Ziebell, Sidebottom and Scully have matured they have overtaken Hoops as being standouts.

Not Hoops's fault, he just not going to grow anymore. Sidebottom still is rangy, doesn't seem to affect his play though.

I no its not hoopers fault that he has developed early. i have my doubts whether he will get picked up. way to small. and i think we are going to see the same thing happen with dylan joyce this yr.

It will be a shame because hooper is the kind of bloke that can turn a game and always will be hopefully someone will take a punt on him because hes just so good . True he just doesnt fit the mould of the modern footballer but theres not many that can get it like him. I rekon he might get a rookie spot for starters and i am sure if he gets his chance he will make the most of it .He has to get rid of the attitude the lairy hair cuts and get super fit to give himself the best chance.

Agreed although, i think if there was someone like a Kieran King or a Sam Blease available before hoope. clubs would jump on them before a hooper.

yeah have to agree but gee he's good I agree with sportz1 also hooper has got good pace he's strong off the ground in terms of second efforts in the pack and he reads the play very well.Tac he will dominate it this year as an on baller or back flank. Yeah size is a problem but not if you get it 30-40 but we've seen ball magnets to small miss out before. He'd be shattered not to make it having dominated Junior footy for so long but it's a cruel system .Good luck hoops !!

Heres my assesment of the Country u16's eligible

Steele Sidebottom- Amazingly talented player that thinks well ,some of the things he does is amazing around the footy . Scully is a freak in his running capacity and has good skills vision etc but Sidebottom has more class in his vision foot and hand skills ,marking and thinking and still has a light frame for indurance . His only problem may be disipline off the ground where Scully is very focused.I'm a bit biased having whatched him a lot in club footy but the more you watch him the more you see and thats not taking anything away from scully who will ba number one pick 09 for mine.

Jack Zeibel- Although he's not as mobile as some he hits the ball and the opposition hard he'd be the strongest 16 yo in the country in terms of commitment at the ball has enormous and accurate kicking and very clean hand work in close and is a genuine match winner. great vision and thinker Leads by example and takes a lot of heat for his team.Plays senior footy in the Ovens and murray which is very good footy . .He's like a tough hird .Needs a good year this year to confirm it all and needs to get real fit got injured in first game of carnival last year so might not of helped . plays forwards back and on ball .A couple more inches and you have got yourself a gun kpp if not you have a gun .

Andrew hooper- It's all been said about Hooper . great player a little small but so good . Please some one give him a chance . And hoops get a hair cut like sportz1 said ...if a recruiter sees that crap they'll wipe you dont give them that opportunity . He's fast great ball getting skills needs a bit of work on his disposal but he's getting better in all areas .

Ben Peters - .Very strong a good mark and kicks some good goals and will be interesting to watch this year . needs to improve his pace a bit for this draft probably a tad short for kpp

Blake hutchison- he did a knee that kept him out last year but he was fantastic as a 15 yo although he's in the hooper mold on size and off feild might be a worry . It will be interesting to see if he gets back this year and if he can be as good he had super pace and stength over the ball and can run. Big question marks .Does anyone have any info on his progress.08 draft

Caleb tiller- hes an underated player as sportzs1 has said i have watched him at club footy and he dominates he just requires more game time as he has good skill he will definatly be of interest this year in tac he's lightly built so has some upside to him he'll be ok .

luke Lowden - He's big he's thin but theres enough there to suggest he has a lot of up side . Suffered from back troubles last year but played some ok trial games. He's still growing so they wont wipe him off just yet . they might let him go this year and see how he comes on next year he has a long way to go .

Chris curran - he's showed he has some real dour qualities he was a bit off the pace early but got better and he's not a bad size one that needs a good year this year believe in himself and work his ass off .

Luke Thompson - He's very raw needs to step up to some good footy he fumbled a lot and really struggled with the pace of the game not that he was slow just needed to up the tempo so plenty to work with . You can see in him he has some skill but needs to hone it he's a good size and nice mover just has to work really hard .

Chris Giampolo- Chris is a good on baller and is clever at times probably needs to gain some confidence in his own ability so he can get the best out of himself . Did some clever in close work so just needs to build onit . he's a bit small so needs to bulk up and hit hard in the tac this year.

Luke rounds - he had a very dissapionting carnival but showed a lot inthe trials hope fully it was just a confidence thing . So he needs a good year of redemption in the tac .

Of these I'd say sidebottom and zeibel are the 2 most likely to go at this stage

this 1 is for the subiaco followers, but what are peoples thoughts on josh milani. meet him over in bali seems like a top bloke and has the height weight and ambition from first impression to play AFL footy.

hey man you forgotten MATT PIANTO? one the top players in the side

Jo Black is very talented and a fantastic bloke, but unfortunately i think he is a little too slender to play AFL unless he seriously builds up soon otherwise he will be snapped by a medium player let alone a big player. Very hard worker and trainer though so it wouldnt be suprising if he does buff up.

allen christensen would be a show wouldnt he
Not sure of his age. Christensen is a good player but i just think he lacks a little bit of genuine class. He gets plenty of the footy and is a dangerouis sort of player but is probably a bit behind the likes of scully blease hooper sidebottom that sort of player he is very footy smart and like i said he gets a bit of it . This year will be a big one for him and if he can gain a yard will be very dangerous.
