Morris - Naughton - Wood
Crozier - Cordy - Johannisen
Richards - Liberatore - Hunter
McLean - Schache - Wallis
Cavarra - Gowers - Lloyd
Trengove - Macrae - Bontempelli

Suckling, Daniel, Dunkley, Williams

Left Picken and Boyd out. Would rather go small with Gowers than play English as a non #1 ruck.

Who takes the hitouts when Trengove is resting? Dunkley or Schache?

Your list is almost identical (down to the position) to mine now. Literally the only difference is that I have English and Duryea over Suckling and Lloyd, but it was very close for me

Did anyone pick Hammelmann up?
Nope, don't know the guy at all just watched him play three times last year and he looked really good considering he
was playing for a side that won one game for the year. The fact that he played his nine games for Brisbane as a
key defender also gave him great versatility for us at both ends with Boyd's back issues, no brainer for me, but i
don't know him personally he may not want to play AFL again who knows.

Suckling is one of the first 10 players picked every week - the disrespect shown here towards him is astounding.

Is it really disrespectful if people just don’t rate him?? I picked him, but why is it disrespectful if others didn’t?

He missed a huge chunk of the end of 2018, I'm hesitant to put any injured player in the side tbh. The only one I'm confident in being in our 22 round 1 is Libba, and that's only because of how much we've heard of his progress. I know nothing of Suckling's progress so I can't reasonably assume he is good to go for round 1.

Healthy and with some preseason games under his belt, he'd be in my 22. Right now, can't put him there until I've seen him play

I couldn't tolerate suckling up until last season. I felt he was soft and cost us a lot of contests he could have halved and he did too many dicky things by foot.
Last year though he was absolutely exceptional and to the naked eye it looked as if he improved his contested possessions and 1%'s.

I think some people just see him as a Hawthorn discard. Not a true Bulldog perhaps... I wonder what it would take for him to change their minds because his ability with the ball puts him at the top of the Bulldog tree for kicking. Yes he’s had the odd moment where he’s been caught out down back but for the last 2 years name anyone apart from Moz who’s been better down back than Suckling.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - in a game of robotic same same players Suckling gives our team a massive point of difference. When he gets the ball anywhere between half back and centre he’s one of the few people in the league that can kick over a zone defence quickly and accurately.
Disrespect is probably not the right word as someone else mentioned... he’s severely underrated.

Morris - Naughton - Crozier
JJ - Wood - Williams
Richards - Bontempelli - Hunter
Lloyd - Cordy - Dale
Cavarra - Schache -Picken
English - Macrae - Dunkley

Interchange
Liberatore - Lipinski - Daniel - McLean,

Emergencies
West, Smith, Wallis, Gowers, Duryea, Lynch

Dale????

Really? Can’t see him playing many at all this year myself

Agree with the poster on Suckling. Unless he is injured, he is absolutely one of the first picked. Bevo loves him and he becomes more of a weapon with the new kick in rules.

Lewy young competing in the ruck against English in some match simulation today.

Let the speculation begin.
Wonder if they're just trying to train some toughness into him given that his one on ones are a big weakness? Although he is nearly the same height as Trengove so it wouldn't surprise me to see them want to train him as a ruck. God I hope not :(

My side for round one, taking into consideration the unlikely scenario where everybody on my list is fit and the continued doubts about Pickens playing future.

To my mind the depth rotating through the mid-field is nigh on elite in this competition, however it will carry a huge burden that is an incredibly inexperienced group of keys forward and back.

FB: Morris, Naughton, Crozier
HB: Wood, Cordy, JJ
C: Hunter, Libba, Macrae
HF: Mclean, Schache, Greene
FF: Gowers, Boyd, Dickson
R: Trengrove, Dunkley, Bont
INT: Suckling, Richards, Daniel, Williams.

Next: Lipinski, English, Wallis, Dale, Jong.

I suspect that we will not be in for a long wait to see Smith in the glorious tri-colours.

Sight unseen, all indications are that English is doing a power of work in the ruck simulations and that Boyd is a fair way off. So Im amending my side and bringing English in from the next in line bench and replacing Boyd with him. That is all.

Recent reports are saying Boyd is out of full training indefinitely. Was walking laps day 1 of camp. I'm thinking he's no chance for round 1 at this stage unfortunately so he's out of my side too. Looking like our spine will be something involving Naughton, Cordy, Young, English, Schache and Trengove

You could well be right. He is in a battle with West, Smith, Lynch and a few others.

I like players with a point of difference and Dale's telescopic arms could should be a real weapon. He has 40 game under his belt now and looks a bit bigger, is a solid shot for goal and has reasonable skills for a half forward role. IT would take much improvement for him to be a an automatic pick.

I'll be surprised if we see him this year.

If he was fit I'd be playing Schache (permanent forward), Trengove & English ahead of him anyway.

I feel the same, doubt he plays this year. I'd rather see him use the year to sort himself out physically and mentally, with some VFL time as a Key Forward.

Schache is already ahead of him as a forward, and English will easily overtake him as a ruck this year. Trengove was already ahead. I struggle to see a spot for him in a "best" 22. Really the only reason I'd be including him in my 22 is for the development time, since I don't think our list is quite ready to be competing for finals in any serious way
