I think people are underestimating what Gav would bring to the board. We don’t need 10 accounts and lawyers but we also don’t need 10 middle aged white men. An aboriginal board member is significant.

I’ll probably vote Craig as a way of endorsing him as a future club appointed choice. I assume Gav will win well.

You make a solid point. I recall being told that the Club feels it can’t have a China expert on the board until they have at least one Indigenous director.

You absolutely need more then accountants/business men, politicians and high profile media personalities. Gav is not only indigenous as you pointed out, but an AFL hall of fame member, two time AFL premiership player, magpies premiership player, Brownlow medalist, 5 time All Australian and our inaugural AFL captain.

Absolutely the kind of person you need on the board, a successful football person is an understatement - he absolute ****ing superstar and champion on the game.

By China expert - did they mean a Chinese national or Chinese-Australian?

I’d suggest George will get it. The board will call their multi ticket mates.

Thompson should have held his cards until Thiele came up!

Wanganeen is really interesting he would be been encouraged I’m sure.

Perhaps Thompson was a threat and two Port legends will be enough to protect the seat?

Gavin SHOULD have enough on his plate with the new Indigenous Players Union getting off the ground, would prefer someone whom isn’t starting some new venture in the same year!

Being a great footballer doesn’t equate to having a good business mind, you want successful people around your club. But we have just moved from a survival mindset to a development phase, we need to build on this and Thompson is has experience in this field!
Vote for Gav and get the father/son
This is the ONLY thing going for Gav over Thompson!

My point is, you cant just have business people on the board, you need successful football people as well. People who know what football success is. Gav has that, he is a champion footballer as as a football club we need that.

The biggest measure for success is what we achieve on field, and for that Gav is a far superior person to be on the board to impact the football department, the board need people like that, someone who knows what they are talking about, what successful football clubs are and can judge whats happening without being sweet talked.

Successful business people like Thompson will be far more successful in bringing in money sponsors and growing the club if they are successful on field. Then we get more media coverage, more people to games and can attract bigger sponsors and he can work his magic.

A good board make up has successful people from both Football and the Business worlds.

I guess it depends on how you see the role of the member elected board members and board members 5-10 in general because let’s me honest it doesn’t take 10 to govern a football club.

In my view it’s Koch’s responsibility to select a board to oversee and support KT. It should be our responsibility to select someone to represent the interest of the members and fans e.g. drive #bringbackthebars

The fact many see Thompson as a necessity shows the lack of trust in the current administration but doesn’t detract from Wanganeen or Fiacchi.

I think what we as a collective are looking for is a stronger football department and the Football Director, which I think is Chris Davies’ area of concern. I understand successful Footballers know what it takes and need to positively feed back through the board, but I think we need very clear lines of communication from Board to other avenues.

There needs to be a distinct separation between Board and Football department, no good having mates left, right and centre. It makes sacking people when needed much more difficult.

The board are there to run the club as a business and holding the employees to account, keeping to the club ethos. George Fiacchi seems to have done this to a certain extent. Hence why an Indigenous Board member would be a great move in the right direction. However my feelings right or wrong, we need to build on the good work Koch and Thomas have done, Thompson reads well and feels the best to build the business side of the club. Not in a lack of confidence perspective with the rest of the board, but an outside view to brighten and inspire the creative juices of the current board.

Wanganeen has a role to play for this club, he has been around the traps for a while behind the scenes and a guy like Thompson doesn’t stroll into the club all that often. I would question what Vanstone brings to the table these days and if there is a genuine need for three Accountants on the board, diversity is key.

It’s sad we only elect so few these days, but this is a great position to find ourselves, three runners who I would all love to have steering our club over the next 5 years!

... Whilst we are at it, what does Amanda Vanstone do? .....
Yeah, I can't speak for you but she has contributed zip at all of the PAFC board meetings I've attended.

FFS, she hasn't even got her own range of emojis.

Who the f**k sets up a business in 2009 and calls it GFC?....
If he is elected to the board I expect the lawyers for the mob on Brighton Road to serve him with a cease and desist notice.

In Porto Alegre, no idea how it works elsewhere, multi-voting is not allowed. You may have 30 seats, but you count as one elector and have one vote.

In 2016, Grêmio and Internacional renewed half of their Members' Council (150 seats were up for grabs in each club), and elected the President and the Board of Directors for both clubs. There were 6,455 votes at Grêmio and 13.984 votes at Internacional.

This is what this shit turns into. ****ing nuffies voting because muh Wanganeen. Thompson may not have even bothered.

The board needs football people, successful football people who know what’s its about. They can’t all be business people, politicians and media personalities.
