Injury Wines has done his shoulder

So when Wines is / isn't announced as captain in a few weeks this will all blow up again

"PAFC reward injured player with captaincy. Off field indiscretion ignored !"

"PAFC punish injured player by denying captaincy. What about his mental health !"

You watch them now take the fruit tinglesque soft co-captaincy option

I'd put money on it

The AFL would never allow it within the clubs current landscape.

I’m guessing this means that the AFL wants stability with the club while we are making hay in China, because they’ve been wanting to milk that teat like Luke Skywalker for years :P

Is it just me, or has this incident been blown right out of proportion ?

Yes... i like to call it "molehill mountain madness"

At the end of the day all it was, was an unfortunate accident but some people are acting like footballers aren't allowed to have leisure time, all they are allowed to do is train and sleep.

Right here clearly demonstrates how far behind AFL players are from absolute world class professional athletes.

Small minded mindset the days of Foss Williams would never allowed he would of demanded total commitment.

We have now become a club that you hear from some supporters “don’t expect to win it all the time”
“It’s a difficult competition” “we are a small club”

If we want to be the best we bloody better start acting like it.

Standards are set at the very top. Hinkley has plenty to answer for the directions we taken.

Sadly 2019 going to be very difficult of another season under Hinkley era

In his 17 years of playing AFL I can count on one hand the amount of flags his club won.

This is what happens when you appoint from within. Bad habits from previous leaders continue. The minute we appointed a Burgess understudy as his replacement without even looking elsewhere from premiership/championship winning programs, we were always going to continue with the shit that wasn't working. The so called greatest in his field - Burgess, has no silverware to back up his quackery at all too.

I've been avidly following Mladen Jovanovic on twitter, and he's way too much of a hardass (lol and an outspoken conservative) to survive in the "there are no losers at saint barnabas'" culture we've cultivated. It's no surprise he ****ed off.

Are we seriously blaming the fitness staff for Wines having an accident water skiing because Andrew Russell ripped into two players for doing activities that involve heavy lifting and running around?

I'm sick of people defending the act of an extreme sport months before season as looking out for someone's mental health as well.

A handful of weeks away from wakeboarding is not going to be the difference between depression setting in and not.

The problem is they are not. They keep getting contract extensions based on being unsuccessful. The coaching staff keep getting the backing of the board, and the CEO and the President when they don't deserve it. Nothing will change, they can just nominate more stooges to the board and we the members have limited control or say. It is a matesy boys club not a professional football club.

They keep telling us all that it is ok we are going in the right direction when we are clearly not but what is our option as members? to not renew? which some have but more often than not we are guilted into renewing our membership even though we want to scream in the faces of all down at Alberton to stop killing our club. So members keep signing on, paying their money and down at Alberton they take that as acknowledgement that they are on the right track, supported by the members and getting the job done.

So i don't see how they are on borrowed time at all. By the time the membership has truly woken up to this travesty it will be too late and we will be on our knees with limited members, no money and very limited appeal as a club.

The worst of this all is that we have gone down this path before with Chocco, extending his contract when it was not what the members wanted or what the club needed. When it was clear insanity. I thought we would have learnt from that and I told myself that, that particular mistake was only made because Chocco was from a Port Adelaide dynasty and our objectivity was clouded. But oops we did it again. We were very lucky to make it out last time. I am really fearful we will not be so lucky this time.
I wonder how long the club can keep distracting us with shiny objects (ie high profile signings, old club legends being nominated for the board, etc. ) before we realise that the board and coaching panel of this club is just not very good.

How do we actually make this administration accountable to us the members. How do we stop them from burning the place down or making our assets completely worthless? How people how?
It's actually easy. We have far more power than most people think but at this stage only one person has used it and copped a lot of abuse from supporters at the ground.

For example, if at every home game a chant went around - Get Ken out - and it was loud and clear the club would have no choice but to get rid of him. They would resist at the start but in the end the club would have to follow the supporters wishes.

This would obviously hurt the club but it would get the desired result. I think the club has completely lost focus on what is required to sustain quality performances. The skill level over the last 4 years is a great indicator of this. I will be very interested to see whether the addition of 2 assistant coaches raises the standards around the club. If we continue to play the crap football we have played from 2015 I will be grabbing that poster from El Scorcho and leading the chant.

Missed all the Wines H tweets. Sound tasty.
"Kane the amount of shit that has come from your mouth the last couple of days is absolutely stunning. Saying a player has “let his team down badly” after a freak injury is incredibly hypocritical after you ditched Port mid-season to do a 2 week internship at the fire brigade.

It’s glaringly obvious you will throw your fellow players under the bus to rat your way to a media career the same way you sheep-dogged your way to 300 games without a scratch. You don’t need to take your childhood issues out on players trying to live their lives.

It’s not their fault you were bullied growing up and not allowed to play with the cool kids. Move on to the next topic."

Appointment of Gray instead of Jonas and/or Wines would sufficiently mitigate that type of response. No one is going to say Robbie doesn't deserve to be a leader of the club.

Man who refuses to blame the head coach for any failings at the club surprised when a small amount of blame for the clubs failings is allocated to high performance staff.

News of player X goes to Las Vegas would be more entertaining. But we can't forget how good the pre-match entertainment is, we have our priorities in the right places.
Not really. The last time our players went to Vegas, one of them returned in a box.

"ADELAIDE key defender Daniel Talia is in a race against time for the Crows' season opener as he continues his recovery from knee surgery. The dual All Australian had surgery on his left knee in December after an innocuous incident at home."

Kane was a seagull as a player & he’s still a chipscab.

Keep bringing up his record but don’t forget the sulking when dropped to Glenelg, the midseason walk out, dropping himself to get to 300 at home, & the leaks to his father.

Cornes’ were useful but erosive as well.
