Perfect!

This is how stats skew a players' benefit to the teams game plan. Rioli is one of, if not the best pressure forward in the comp., A grade for his position and very early days.

Have you not seen the panic with defenders when he's around?

Don't just use stats, use your eyes!
Think he works for Champion data.

Coming off an iffy broken foot with little to no pre season.

Pretty sure Graham is close to resuming full training. Will play round one.
I don't think he is a lock. He is okay at the moment, but really needs to get more of the ball. There will be a few nipping at his heals, like the new boys and Weller. Solid player but that is all at the moment.

This kid deserves the hype. One can just about guarantee his success.

Tall, quick, x factor, takes the game on, kicks on both sides, stands up in tackles, links up, footy brain, great vision....

He could be ANYTHING

If he can kick on both sides he is a bigger steal than I thought!!

Agreed, Im a massive JG fan and think he'll be a serious player, but this season he needs to find more of the ball, a lot more. If he can average 20 touches a game to go with his defensive pressure this year, he'll be a serious player

I think the grand final game is the prime example of what we want out of him on a consistent basis
He absolutely shut sloane down but still played his guts out

I like the way he goes about it also, a kelpie attitude of keep going and then go again until you drop. But it seems pressure acts acts are as important as possessions, which may be correct seeing that we won a premiership based on it, but it sells short Graham a bit. Will be interesting to see if he is let off the leash a bit this season and be allowed to play a more natural ball getting game. We need it.

If he produced that level on a consistent level he would win the Brownlow / Mvp / Norm Smith / Coleman / JD / CA

Don’t want to overhype him like we did C. Ellis. Maybe we should just lock this thread now.
CEllis was opposite on the board. Not all that many were initially excited. It is that Fremantle game that wheeled the hype train right in.

Nowhere near A grade performances though. Rioli is another who displays A grade traits but the output is way down to be considered an A grader.
Yes its early days and the expectations are he will trend upwards.

His body of work to date has yielded on average
11.3 disposals
3.6 c/p
0.93 goals
3.4 tackles
2.5 i/f
0.4 cl
Thats hardly knocking on A grade's door. Instead it suggests he still has a long way to go in several areas.
his pressure stats are excellent. As were Higgins 5th &Graham (best). Rioli was 8th

i agree his defense is great but defense and pressure is only one half of the game.
Most here would denigrate Devon Smith just for being an Essendon player but he layed 189 tackles for the year and still averaged 22 disposals a game with close on 9 of em being contested.Thats some yr both defensively and offensively for what was primarily a small fwd.

Not saying Rioli is no good or cant play but he has many areas that he needs to improve on to ROUND his game out.

Dont crucify yourself thinking about that stuff dude

It’s just the same jokes resurrected all the time.

Reminds me of Jesus Christ tbh.

Might not be a good idea to play him in the good Friday game. Will get injured and later be involved in a stabbing, then disappear (to India?) without ever being delisted! Talk about list clogger.
