The funeral maybe an hour or so. But there can be 5 or so days between the time someone passes to the time the funeral is held.

I believe Shell posted an article before the season started that said that it was a combination of him living on a farm, his parents not being particularly social people and him being bullied that lead to his lack of self-esteem
