At least the banter is entertaining:

"Nathan reckons he's going to try and do a hanger on me and my plan is to have a bounce looking back smiling at him," Hill said with a laugh.

after the speculation that Fyfe would pick Shuey with his first pick, he shrugged his shoulders & went for a player whose supporters are less feral than the eGirls. :D
That was a classic trojan horse move. Get the other captains thinking "geez, Fyfey really rates Shuey for AFLX, I should get him first"... Spanner in his plan was Luke being a spanner. **** his GF performance was good though... very annoying.

Lets face it, the fight for market share within sports is now global and it will only become harder and harder every year. Now days, you can watch everything and anything at any given time and on multiple platforms so if the local market share is being lost to international sports, its critical for the sustainability of the code to explore the international market and develop ideas that might work.

Naturally the long term supporters are opposed to any form of change that might challenge the way they appreciate the game, but respectfully these opinions and views are the ones who will soon become the minority that decision makers will care less about.

It might not be the best form of evolvement but like any smart code, at least they are exploring.

Are they being made to play, or can they opt out?

Surely players are much more likely to get injured if playing a game they care about.
I think if Travis Boak (aka Plan C) made it through to a creme de la creme players pool that suggests opt out options were available.

AFLX comes over as some kind of mad professor experiment that has escaped from the laboratory while the scientists were up in AFL HQ telling Gill they needed to euthanize it and start again. Unfortunately Gill is smitten by this weird creation and is helping it stay at large while the mad professors are busy developing a death ray to kill it off on the one day of the year it is on the lose in February each year. However AFLX is mutating faster than the mad professors can adapt their death ray and they appear to have no answer in 2019. Be sure to tune into the events at Marvel Stadium soon to see if anything changes.

I am pretty sure I have read this exact same article about the Republican party and Donald Trump. Create criticism fatigue - just keep creating new things for people to criticise and they'll get confused which thing it is they are complaining about.

I liked the basic idea. Most ball game have some sort of a “shorten version” that is played recreationally, like 3v3 basketball, street soccer, touch rugby, indoor cricket(?). Some sort of a quick pick up game for all fitness level.

As an overseas supporter, I assume I’m part of AFLX’s target audience. However, they went too flashy and gimmicky last year. (zoopergoal? Really?) Felt that it ended up too different from footy and lost the main flavors that made the game attractive to me in the first place.
I’ll probably still watch it given there is no other footy on, but I hope they clean it up a bit so that it’ll be a decent game/game to watch.

Donald Trump? WTF? Do we really need to invoke that orange knob infestation here?

you really gotta wonder why they didnt just make the teams WA, VIC, SA and the Allies

Yeah i think thats a good point.

Everyone is salivating over the prospect of SOO so why not just give them a little taste for this gimmicky nonsense and see if it helps draw a crowd in.

All of that said, do you really want to see the SOO guernseys that are pretty cherished by those that have worn them in a 9-a-side comp.

Hamling to pull out of Eddie's team (inj).
Yep and Wilson in to replace him. The AFL are being pretty serious on making sure every team has players in AFLX. Seems like every time someone's pulled out they've been replaced by a team mate.

Is that now, or should that be AFL..... EX.So many pulled the plug.A bit like the players during the SOO .

Not necessarily:
Gresham (St. Kilda) replaced May (Melbourne).
Martin (Gold Coast) replaced Wingard (Hawthorn).
Rockliff (Port) replaced Gray (Port).
