They've got so many out we'll basically be playing the Dockers.

I've heard they're considering bringing Daniel Kerr back onto their list as a rookie so they can field a team.

Despite all that stuff, a round 1 win at home against the reigning premiership team would still make a lot of people pay attention. What an opportunity for the boys.

Talking to someone within the AFL community who is well placed to comment and their feedback was that Lincoln McCartney, Cam Rayner and Hugh McCluggage are ‘flying’ at the minute. Feeling was that a Top Eight finish is quite probable in 2019.
I'm a massive McCluggage fan and reckon he was close to our best player in the last 8-10 games last season. Rayner could be an absolute superstar, not many 1st years kids have the chance to win games with essentially the last kick of the game, now he didn't slot the goals but he just seems to put himself in the right position to make things happen.

If we can get the whole team firing I think we are a sneaky chance of making the 8.

This is stealth Operation Finals post!

Nah. Better placed. Probably best to not play who’s who, but it is good mail and gives plenty of cause for optimism grounded in a proper appraisal rather than my usual irrational hypermania

So someone outside the club knows these guys are flying at this time of year?

Re round 1 I’m still pretty worried about Ryan and Rioli - not sure we have the pace/defensive nous to keep them quiet.

Regardless if we are going to improve it’s all on the midfield I think - our defence is pretty ok when healthy but we’ve got to markedly incfease our defensive running/forward pressure against the better teams:

Meh, they're the cream on the top type players (read : downhill skiers, inconsistent flashy types, not going to be a problem if we win the game where it counts) kinda like Justin Sherman ;)

Depleted Gold Coast, Brisbane teams to face off in practice match
Andrew Hamilton, The Courier-Mail
February 20, 2019 7:45pm

Berry (glandular fever) and Martin (heel) are expected to be available for the first or second JLT match but Gardiner (knee) and Christensen (ankle) are unlikely to play in the pre-season.

New recruit Marcus Adams is still battling knee soreness and may also not be available for either JLT games.

Still baffles me why most people putting forward their round one teams has Adams as a starting KPD.

He’ll be lucky to make the team by round 6.
