What do you think he lacks to be able to play back?

Unlike Mundy who was a natural defender at TAC Cup Level, Setterfield has played mostly as a mid/forward all his life.

Setters is naturally more of an attacking player, but he doesn't read the fall of the ball as well as Mundy, yet

Jeez, everyone's hopes are sooo high. So much previous failure leads us to this very point of wanting us to not be total shit.

Prepares self for every eventuality.

Could it be we finally show some class, or is it time to prepare for the rant thread. It's been so long I'm even looking forward to a crazy rant thread and Arrow getting on the front foot to fix their mistaken perceptions, and Soapy chiming in with the future looks rosy.

Which ranters are we looking for? Do they have a name? Or is it random one off posters each loss!

Either way, get in there lads. No prisoners. I'm backing Arrow in to deal with you all.

I'm only a video highlights guy but Setterfield on initial inspection looks slightly more physical in term of approach to the ball. Another thing, when he has ball in hand, he seemed at home with accepting players closing in on him while still getting his delivery away effectively. Didnt panic. Might not be a big thing but that panic disposal is something I see Murphy do often enough.

I'm not about to stop giving other teams shit, hell no. Don't care how bad we play I'm still an A-grade smartass.

All in.

Yep you got me there... [emoji57] Kinda been addicted to doing the triple dot for some time. You are the only person who has ever picked me up on it.

I actually had to google ellipsis in order to know what you were talking about about to be honest. Now I know I am breaking the literacy law I will try and be good.

Hope it kinda made sense at least. [emoji57]

I’ve always had great hopes for David as I liken him and his burst of speed to the great Chris Judd.

I hope we continue to support DW and I think soon he will be a standard fixture in the 22.

Chris Judd, 1AW he has the right attributes to make it for sure. He can play as he kills VFL. Just needs the belief in himself.

My view is he’ll be one of our favs soon

who is DW

Eager to catch a glimpse of Walsh, Stocker and Setterfield against the Tigers reckon they’ll be rippers for the Navy Blue. Very hard to keep a lid on it.
Combined 2 games experience between those 3 players? I think they'll both be in the Round 23 team, but perhaps not now.

MIDFIELD HIERARCHY

I think we need 12 mids in the rotation...
6 back locks + 3 KPFs + 1 ruck.. the rest should be mids, with 3 starting as small/medium forwards (since we only have Polson and Lebois as real small forwards who are not very good yet)

So 12 mids from (in order of how I think they are viewed/picked): Cripps, Murphy, Curnow, Fisher, Dow, SPS, Kennedy, Walsh, Daisy, Setterfield, LOB, JSOS, Cuningham, Stocker, Lang, Garlett

So if all fit (excluding Pickett), there's only really one spot for one of JSOS, Cunners, Stocker, Lang and Garlett.

I think Setterfield has great hands and doesn’t fumble. His ball use is first class. Mundys very good but I think this guy is even better and it’s the little things

He is also a damaging forward

Gets fit, watch out

If Setterfield becomes as good as Mundy I'll be stoked. Gun mid and forward, not to mention, at least to my eyes, Mundy has one of the best/cleanest/natural kicking actions going around.

You're definitely right about WS's hands; that was one of the things that stood out while watching the limited game vision of him that exists. I'm probably equally as excited by his NEAFL tackle numbers to be honest, Will was putting up Jude Bolton kind of numbers. We've got Ed and Cripps who lodged over 6 a game last season but it'd be great to have a serious tackling machine in the mix too

That being said, I'm of the belief that we should give Setters some time to find his feet and get some consistency. We're all pretty excited to see what he could become, I know I certainly am, but I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying that Setterfield is already better than Mundy/Shiel/insert-any-other-a-grader-here. Sit back and watch it all play out, should be interesting.

That's a nice piece of play.
Maybe he will actually be a player.
That's the sort of luck we need to really improve.
It's great we have all these high picks at the club but there's so many things that go into creating true AFL success, you need some luck along the way.

I would prefer Cuners to play a run with role on the likes of Gaff, Sidebottom, etc
Cunners
has it all
has had a few injuries however not this pre season
He has ticked a lot of stuff on the field in Afl.....however he doesnt get enough of it
instead of a solid 20 he is giving us a dozen possessions ......you comparative players are elites
do you honestly think he will ever get anywhere near them
Cunners has to lift to Afl standard in 2019
he will get a chance

Not a natural reader of the ball, best way to learn how to find it, is to play on these types, who read the play instinctively

Insert "Will" be better. Definitely not yet but has the talent and skills to be something very very good

Cuningham isn't a 30 possession player. He's not a genuine midfielder. Playing HB or HF in a role is what suits him. Even wing as a link man would be good. If he can stay fit, get his confidence up he will be a very good player

I think wing is his perfect position and when around the stoppages he should be 2nd or 3rd outlet so he has more room to use his burst

Who’s at the game? Updates pretty please! Stuck at a hospital for the next few hours and need to be entertained! Thanks in advance

Couldn't help but notice that nice block by Campol in the twitter vision; allowed SPS to hit up Harry who then hit up Ed who goaled
