From a couple of insiders the fact he was pushing himself may have played against him
You know that kid who always wanted to be House Captain?....like too much??
As I previously posted, either he didn't want 5 or the Club didn't want to give him 5
Either way that's not captaincy material- at this stage.
Let's hope he has a glorious next few years and gets sole captaincy in 5 years time when Dave and Wittsy are on their last legs
I love Touk's enthusiasm & the way he promotes both the club & region. I'm fine with the club's choices. I am just very surprised. Gobsmacked really.

Very surprised about Sexton, shocked Bowes didn't get a guernsey

Touk has a bit of a militant "union" side to him regarding players rights etc - not that there is anything wrong with that but he may be seen as being a bit difficult to manage from above

I've heard he's good with the cameras but not so easy around the Club-its just gossip of course but my guys could be said to not be on the Touk train

Genuinely surprised that Secco is in our leadership group this year instead of Bowes or Weller. Fiorini and GHS way less surprising.

He will be for this season at least IMO.
He was very serviceable and steady in the practice match on the weekend. Helps balance out all of our gung-ho youngsters who just want to charge in all the time. Saved a few goals being in the right place at the right time.

Plenty of experience in the leadership group, Fiorini the youngest as a 4th year player. A good call for mine.

Give the keen younger players more training and leadership opportunities through the year without the extra responsibility.

Captains especially have more work to do on gameday and leading up to a game than another best 22 player. See how things shake out the next year or two.

Sexton a very interesting one.
Without any inside or personal knowledge (mostly just gut feel) he has always seemed a bit cheeky, maybe has a real connection with a particular cohort of the boys though and was chosen for this reason. Dave, witts, harbrow, fiorini seem like quiet kind of guys so having a different mix amongst the leadership group can be important.

Can only agree. All our mature recruit players were actually good - Hombsh, Murdoch, Miles, GHS, Burgess, Collins.
