Crediting Cam with having a purple patch and why is not objective enough for you, what the hell do you want me to do make it up and tell you he was great.

No we want you to accurately described what happens if you go to the effort of quoting plays.

Here's the replay:

I invite anybody who has the time to go to the point stated and check which of these descriptions in each case is more objective:

First center bounce wins the clearance and handballs to a player already covered.

Text book from Stanley and Guthrie for the clearance. Then he fights off some pressure and starts a chain of handballs that gives us an open deep entry.

11:20 Cam free kick HBF short chip kick ball finish up going to the back pocket

11:13 the chip kick hand ball received chip kick, made 20 mtrs

Guthrie wins a free kick in the back pocket (unfortunately the footage doesnt show what the freekick was for). Then he has 4 possessions (3 kicks and 1 handball) all of which hit targets. He starts with a simple chip pass, then hits a nice get out chip pass after he was put under some pressure by a poor Zach Guthrie kick, then he follows up to provide an outlet and gives a really good release handball to Constable who makes a bad decision to go back to Guthrie and put him under pressure. Finally he collects it and sidesteps his man and hits a nice short pass across the ground to release Henderson who puts us inside 50.

5:50 gives a good handball

At a throw in he and Danger harass his man out of the ball and Guthrie collects and dishes out to Menegola in space (he also goes to shepherd for Menegola) for the clearance. Seriously you make it sound like he just got given the ball and passed it on when he actually won his own ball and used it cleanly to generate a transition forward.

5:06 gives off another good handball

Roves the tap brilliantly while holding off his opponent, draws another opponent and handballs to Duncan and then shephards to put Duncan away who eventually misses the shot at goal for what would've been a glorious center clearance goal.

Good post.

Love it when a replay is used for reference and the description on here is detailed. Takes time to do but well worth the effort.
Too many judge players week to week while watching for "representative" examples to push their agenda. One earlier, using an example from Zuthrie where he takes an intercept mark and goals being used as a negative comment exemplifies this.

In an uninspiring team effort overall Cuthrie was OK overall. Next week - who knows, but some objectivity would be nice.

Thanks mate. The entire replay is on youtube so people can check for themselves whether I'm making what I'm saying up. And I'm not having a go at people criticising the rest of Guthrie's game (honestly I don't remember him doing much) but his 3rd quarter was evidently terrific.

I said "Cuthrie was OK overall" . A good patch - purple or red or polka dot is a good patch and should be acknowledged as such.

I think that is a simple proposition. I am sorry if it is a bit confronting.

He will have a short career gambling on player in good sides not making kicks or landing shanks in your lap.

It hasn't seemed to harm guys like Heath Shaw, Rance, McGovern, etc who often aren't in the same postcode as their opponents. And the fact is most AFL players can't make really difficult kicks consistently especially if there's good pressure being applied to them. That's why the few players who are exceptional kicks are so valuable.

Couple of other observations that now come to mind
Henry - quite a specimen now , bulked up and very defined, has also got some serious wheels happening
Narkle - did some very good things , liked some of his midfield efforts
Kelly - ordinary game but Simpson had his best tagger on him for most of the first half- audition for year end?
Zuthrie - still very light but showed poise and skill when he had space , contested ball will be an issue until he fills out and his core develops to the required level
Kolo - I want to be a fan but he should be far more poised under pressure now after so many years on the list
Blitz- great leadership , very vocal and lots of direction given
Skipper - looked good in defence when there

I mentioned that the forward pressure was fantastic at times but we still give too much space for the outlet kick or handball further up the ground , need to close the distance on the flank and wing players so the bail out isn’t as easy.
Once out there were far too many possession chains in a row leading to dangerous forward entries.

You misunderstand it was me that stated he had a purple patch, as well as crediting him with being busy for the quarter.Unfortunatly I haven't gushed over him enough for some people.

I went and reviewed Cams supposedly got us back into it 3rd quarter.

First center bounce wins the clearance and handballs to a player already covered.

18:30 involved in handball exchange caught and forced out of bounce

17:30 good handball to Stewart

11:20 Cam free kick HBF short chip kick ball finish up going to the back pocket

11:13 the chip kick hand ball received chip kick, made 20 mtrs

5:50 gives a good handball

5:15 lays a good tackle

5:06 gives off another good handball

4:04 receives handball from Danger and misses running into an open goal.
Bolded little purple patch that was good.
Make up your own minds if that got us back into the game,no goals were scored as a result of those disposals,at best i'd say he was at least busy for the quarter.

I think I read the tone of your argument accurately. My contention that accurate and generous acknowledgement of a players effort is more helpful in our discussions and that we should all be willing to park our opinions for a bit when a player doesn't live down to our expectations.

Anyway, one good quarter, a best 22 position for 2019 does not make. But i will keep an open mind.

Re telecast: Day 1 and already furious with the whanky commentating. When the camerawork is so unprofessional and insipid, it's pretty important to the viewer that new players entering the fray are clearly identified. We can kiss said shite vision from Leederville goodbye, but we'll be saddled with weekly verbal diarrhea once again, from egotistical eggheads paid to describe movement, yet leave the play uncalled.

Thanks for taking the time to do that.
YPO was sort of right though, didn't actually result in any goals bringing us back into the game.
But could of just been the mix or something with him playing well. Was a good period for him.
I tottally remember that shepherd too.

Excuse the intrusion.
Just watched the replay and reckon you have a beauty in Clark. I was so keen on us getting him in last year's drafting but knew he would be well gone come our pick.
How about you blokes keep Kelly and send Clark our way instead? 😋

Why not neither?

If you blokes come in here all season with your smugness about Kelly the mods are going to have a battle on their hands because I'm going to give each of you an unpleasant mouthful ... now **** off.

Foxtel. As expected.

Was it just me the players in the t-shirts some times I could not pick the player they all looked same..not the ones with different colour boots and hair

Nine years of football, 27 years of age, and barely a dozen possessions and no goals. Unfortunately not surprising.

Don't act shocked when the output never gets any better.

True.

But by accounts, the forward delivery was very ordinary yet again, there was little structure, and their backs cleared the ball too easily.

So was Rohan's game the consequence of those factors, or his own failure??

Disclaimer: I didn't see the game.

I can live with that. TBH I'm not sure either would break into our b22 atm.
We'll see if you display the same arrogance after your visit to KP in a couple of months.
