I love cockapoo's they are a great dog to own and give so much back. They don't moult either but are also big enough to not be a rat on a lead but small to
carry with you... But they are cute.

My dad's dog but everyone's best friend.

How does one cope with losing their best mate over the last 12 years? My dog Jack is getting near the end. It just tears me up.
It is a horrible feeling and being honest they are a member of the family and should be grieved as such, I'm so sorry x

What is Luna? Looks like a bluey?
Definitely mostly blue (but does not have any red in her) heeler. My brother thought that she might be a Smithfield heeler. She's from the pound (was found on the street and handed into a vet who delivered her to the pound) and was about 4 months old when we got her. Has the loveliest temperament but also has that OCD characteristic lots of heelers have. Her favourite game is put a stick or ball or bit of ball behind or under something where she can't reach it and then bark at it loudly, happily and incessantly. The game lasts as long as the patience of anyone in the vicinity. Despite this, she is adored by every member of our family.

They stop fussing if you hold them under long enough though.
I realize this is an ancient post but I snorted my coffee all over my keyboard and the whole office is now wondering why.

You shit!

Talk to me about dog insurance fellow dog people. It wasn't a thing when we got our first two dogs. It kind of sounds like a bit of a rip off. Anyone had any experiences they'd care to relate?
Got a friend who’s a vet. Reckons majority of them are scams, gotta go to certain vets, quite a few common expensive surgeries aren’t included, the ones that are included are capped at a point where you can be out of pocket thousands anyway.

When I asked her she said only get one after you chat to your local vet as they’ll know which ones you can claim at their practice and make sure you get it as comprehensive as possible.

I’ll be honest after chatting with them we opted not to because the cost v benefit simply wasn’t near enough for us.

I liked but I came back to comment. I'm not a guy to get into cute-isms but **** me swinging, puppies doing puppy things is quite possibly the very reason the word was invented in the first place.

I've been working on my wife since we moved in together pre marriage in 2005 to get a dog and she refuses. Granted she got bitten by a dog she didn't know as a 4yo kid so she has serious reservations.

If I ever get my own way though, thanks for this, it is damn good advise.

I was bitten multiple times by dogs when I was a kid. It's a wonder i like them.
I got a nasty bite under the eye when I was a kid, still a little jittery around big dogs.

Despite not being a dog owner I'm huge on dog discipline and i think people with big dogs have to take that extra responsibility due to the damage they can do.

My wife was playing with toys on a blanket at the net post while her mum was playing tennis. A german shepherd came from nowhere and attacked her before anyone could do a thing. It would've been damn traumatic so I can understand why she doesn't trust dogs 40+ years later.

Part of my problem in getting a dog is I like mid to large breeds. Give me a choice and I'll have a boxer, german shepherd or a rottweiler, or a mongrel with a strong streak of those breeds. It's all a moot point though as a dog is like another child, you need to be in it together or not at all.
