Darcy Moore has had a strong preseason and already showed great signs in his new role during intra club hitouts and it carried on through the JLT series.

Forget past scoring history. Playing as a tall forward and crippled with injury has ruined any consistent output. He’s now pegged in a new SC friendly role and will be heavily involved as a sweeper/intercept guy. Pies have invested a lot of time with him at training with kick out duties also. The ONLY thing stopping him from being decent is the soft tissue issues he has, otherwise he can and will show he’s a decent scorer. I’ve said it before and stand by my statement that he has all the traits to be an AA defender, health permitting. At 239k with dpp he’s hardly THST big a risk. Worst case you downgrade to a good rookie if he fails.

Now leave Ms Darcy alone and stop FN bagging her.

Nice avvie kent

Can't see how that would work. There's barely enough rookies as it is let alone enough to fill 29 spots

I am not the maths wiz. Their admission is that your team would inevitably field donuts, but over the course of the season things could not only balance out but propel you to the top.

A lot if it's dependant on decisions that fly against normal Supercoach logic though and on you making every single correct trade. Like, even if you were fielding 20 rookies, you'd have to have been Nostradamus to captain Parfitt the week he scored 168. Likewise, you'd need insane foresight to captain Jack Riewoldt the week he scored 219, etc.

It's not a very realistic scenario. Improbable but not impossible, I suppose.

screw you Richmond FC.
now i've got another decision to make.

someone talk me into/out of Balta please.
Scored really well in JLT :heavycheck:
Is already 100 kg at 19 :heavycheck:
May not stay in the side if Caddy becomes available :crossmark:
Caddy currently listed as indefinite :heavycheck:

Well he's been named with Lynch. Surely Tigers can't go with the same ruck strategy that flogs Nank and relies on Grigg as back up. And Lynch is too valuable to risk in the ruck. Balta is athletic and versatile, makes more sense to use him as a Mr. Fix it including back up ruck.
The options in the fwd rookies department are slim, Drew has Wines coming back, Putrid Smelly has Cripps, Burgess will score like poo... Setterfield and Parker the only safe bets imo

Thinking maybe Drew and Balta but drew to the mid bench. Depends on who else named. Opens up the dpp as the other mid rookies are mid only.

Balta JS decent enough now that he is picked with Lynch. Caddy a concern but you could argue that Weller is the one who will be a perfect swap for him once he comes back, which looks like it might be a while away anyway.

If he can make the second ruck thing work he should stick around for a while you'd think.

Bewley would be interesting if the talk about him having been pulled out of a WAFL game at halftime and getting half a game in JLT2 is true, and works ok as a donut if not always playing early doors.

STARTING TEAM
The starting team is very minimalistic with a whopping 22 rookies, seven mid-pricers (six of them under $301k), and a single premium — Brodie Grundy.

To be completely honest, there are a number of players in this team that I have never heard of such as Stefan Giro, David Mirra, Matt Guelfi, and Luke Lavender.

The budget team gets off to a relatively poor start, not scoring over 2100 until Round 7. However, it comes home like a freight train averaging over 2700 in the last nine rounds.

The budget team does not miss out on Josh Kelly’s 205 in Round 20 or Jack Riewoldt’s monster score of 219 in Round 21.

Some of the captain selections early on are very brave including Riley Bonner in Round 1 in what was his fourth senior game and Brandan Parfitt in Round 4 in his 16th game.

Although the team only starts with around half the budget, it finishes with a team value of $14,230,000, which is actually more than that of Cole Cook’s team ($13,671,000). Who says you need money to make money?

This year's version would look something this

Interesting experiment but man oh man, good luck when you consider that for that budget team from last year to be able to win they had to be doing things like making Riley Bonner captain and basically trade in every forward just before they have a monster game. If you're able to win Supercoach with a starting team like that then go out and buy some lottery tickets because you're one lucky kent.

Cheers for posting that, saw the headline but it was paywalled and a lot of their stuff is shithouse.

More chance of me winning every lotto draw for a year than there is of that scenario eventuating. It also assumes that you nailed the captains choice in every single round.
